- 1-1/4'' Slipstick® Grippers, Chocolate, Pack of 8
Overview
Slipstick Gripper furniture feet are specially formulated to keep your furniture firmly in place, yet make it easy to move it when it's time to rearrange. The patented O-ring increases its grip as the weight increases so that when you sit down on your couch, for example, it won't suddenly slide backwards. Without weight on it, however, the furniture is still easy to rearrange. Of course, Slipstick Grippers also do a superb of protecting your floors from scratches. Chocolate-colored rim with gray pads.
Features:
- The Patented 32mm/1-1/4" Slipstick Gripper foot contains an O-ring specially formulated to protect floors and give some grip, which increases with the weight of the furniture
- The lighter the furniture, the more easily it will glide
- Includes option to attach with self-stick adhesive or screws
- Recommended for legs from 1-1/4" to 2" in diameter
- Protects hardwood, laminate and ceramic tile floors
- Caution: Not to be attached at an angle greater than 5 degrees, as indentations may occur in cushion vinyl and softwood floors

(8) 1-1/4" Slipstick Gripper Furniture Feet

To place on our kitchen table chairs. Previously used the felt stick on tabs. They were not durable, and made a mess on our ceramic tile floors placing adhesive on our floors, that is hard to remove.

I have 8 wooden chairs that have a hole for tap in chair glides. The only ones I can find are felt and I know that they will not slide on my floor. (That's what I currently have one these kitchen chairs.) I'm wondering if you can recommend something for me. The holes are too large for a normal nail in type. Thank you, Sue Levine?

BEST ANSWER: Sue,
Unlike felt these are designed to hold chairs in place on a hard surface rather than act as a glide/slide. With regards to the fastening method, these "Grippers" come with a screw for fastening rather than a nail. I had nail in glides on a chair and ottoman that would cause them to move acrosd our hardwood floor every time someone sat in the chair. I removed the nail in glides & installed these "grippers".....problem solved. The chair and ottoman now stay in place.

I have used these. I don't think they slide really well or better than felt. They are more useful to prevent damage to floors. You can drag a chair aside and the floor and chair would be undamaged. I think they are more durable than felt. They won't absorb water. They have a peel off underside so you can carefully align it. Drill out the hole if required so the screw can go in straight and all the way. Don't drill too big or too small.

Sue,
I've used felt pads, but sooner or later the adhesive fails, and they have to be replaced. They also get quite dirty, and are impossible to clean, and as you point out, don't slide well. The round screw-on type have a raised circular ridge which slide so much better, and being plastic are much easier to keep clean.

I love the grippers they come with a screw and have glue on the attachment side. However they are what they are called "grippers" and do not slide as you seem interested in. I use them on kitchen chairs on hardwood and you must lift and move, a downside but stay firmly in place. Hope this is helpful.

The Slipstick® Grippers work great and come in various diameters however I don't know if they will work with the existing holes in the chair legs you mentioned for tap-in casters.

Can I use these on a rocking chair to keep it from moving while I'm rocking?

BEST ANSWER: These are designed for stationary chairs and cabinets only. you may wish to try a non-skid thin strip that adheres/sticks to the rockers. Often this is rubberized and can be cut to fit.

regarding the 1-1/4'' Slipstick® Grippers, when applied to dining chairs on a saltillo tile floor (not a hard tile), will they scuff the tile's surface when sliding back and forth?
fred m
on Oct 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have slate tiles, not saltillo. Mine are hard and rough. I bought and used the product for four of my eight wood dining room chairs. No problem at that time. I bought and used the product for the other four chairs. On two of the legs, the screws did not go in all the way. In retrospect (as a novice), I realized that I probably should have drilled a small guide hole almost the depth of the screw. If the screws were not all the way in, I would have worried about metal-on-slate scuffs.

No they won't, they haven't mine but I will tell you they are not meant to slide and don't very well. They are made to to keep furniture in place.

Just what I wanted and easy to apply.
These inexpensive sliders were easy to screw in , or you can glue them on to the feet, and they work just great. Great value, great product

These are great
I have tried numerous type and styles of chair skids trying to protect my hardwood floors from my heavy dining chairs. So far these not only have protected the chairs from scratching the floor, they also have made the chairs much more stable.
