How good will this blade cut hardwoods like walnut and zebrawood?
Michel L
on Aug 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is an excellent blade. It will crosscut hardwoods without a problem but it tends to burn if used to rip. If ripping, I suggest raising the blade higher than normal and push the piece thru quickly, to avoid burn.

In my opinion of course. I'm glad I ponied up the extra cash and bought this blade. It is a game changer as far as getting a smooth cut that needed MINIMAL work to get it ready for finish.

The Very Best
This is arguably the best saw blade on the market today. I've been woodworking for over 55 years and have used these blades exclusively for the past 20 years. They stay sharp, run true, and leave a little or no sanding edge on every type of natural wood. Another good point is you can send them back to Forrest for resharpening to a new condition.

The best table saw blade ever
They say you need to treat yourself now and then. My first rip using this Forrest Woodworker 2 blade was like a religious experience.
My first rip was on what I believe to be 1-1/2" thick stabilized black walnut. Previously, I had to take about 6 1/8" passes to get through this lumber without the blade smoking. It's the type of wood that puts the kick back boogie man in your head as long as the blade is spinning.
I literally jacked the Forrest blade up to about 2" and cut clean through the lumber like a hot knife through butter. Now granted, my previous blade was getting dull, but the quality of this blade is remarkable and blew me away. In four quick passes I had safely squared up each side of the lumber.
Do your research online and you'll see I'm not nuts or a Forrest fanboy. I'm sure someone out there will dog this blade. That's fine. I'm a believer.
Add on the Forrest blade guarantee and sharpening service and you'd be crazy to stick with Home Depot blades anymore. This blade will pay for itself over time. And, it's just straight up safer to work with a blade like this.
Treat yourself.

How did I live whithout it?
Works very well on plywood, leaving a nice smooth edge. I use it for ripping small stock and the occasional cross-cut. I love it and would definitely recommend this blade to anyone. I love that it is made in the USA.

Not much else to say…
These blades are highly regarded in the woodworking world. There's not much more that I can say that hasn't already been said: they are fantastic. Expensive? Sure. -But take into account the amount (and type of) carbide on the teeth when making your decision. The number of sharpenings that you can get make this a very cost-effective blade. Give it a try …you won't be disappointed.

Music to my ears
I love this blade, I never thought that I would buy a blade of this magnitude, as I only do woodworking as a hobby and this is in the higher spectrum price wise. But I tell you what, I had a chance to get this blade and I am so glad I stepped up to the plate. I feel safer with this blade as it cuts smooth and clean. The odd thing about this blade is that it sings so sweetly when spinning on my saw. I think it's the fact that it is perfectly balanced and the material is strong and sound. I just started using this work of art and I hope to find out that it REALLY does stay sharp for a long time. The videos about use of this blade are definitely a good use of your time, as I learned a lot of tips that I didn't know about using a saw blade.

After debating the move to this...
After debating the move to this well touted saw blade, I finally made the move several weeks back because of a new table saw purchase: a Bosch 4100, which is an even better saw with this extraordinary saw blade. It is unbelievable just how good this blade is. I was looking to add a planer to my equipment list. Not anymore, with the Forrest blade, I won't need it. Didn't believe it, but I now I know it's true. Thanks for the great blade!!

I have been a woodworker by hobby for 7 years and have used many other brands of blades. I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about with the Forrest Woodworker blades. I am truly amazed! I have spent as much as $80 on good blades but nothing compares to the quality of cut you get from a Forrest. It is well worth the money you pay, not only for the quality cut, but the time it saves from not having to "clean up" edges after they are ripped or crosscut. I will never go back to the "cheap" stuff again. THANKS Forrest!

If you care about woodworking the...
If you care about woodworking the Woodworker II is the blade that you want to have on your tablesaw. It cuts so smooth and effortlessly that I find myself cleaning up freshly jointed edges. I suggest that you purchase the 1/8" kerf blade if your table saw is 3 hp or larger. I keep two blades in rotation, one on the saw and one sharp and ready. Forrest's sharpening service is great; it is fast, easy, and reasonable. I simply take a blade to the Mail center, drop it off and about a week later my blade is back at my door in like-new condition. Freud's new top end blade may be comparable in performance but with Freud you are on your own in finding a quality sharpening service. Buy the best, you won't regret it.

The most expencive blade I have...
The most expencive blade I have ever bought but also the best blade I have ever used. I was cutting some used wood and sawed into metal. I almost had a heart attack. The wood was from a set of bunk beds. In the end was a hole about the size of a nickel. I was shocked to find a penny and two nickels stuffed into the hole My saw blade made hash out of the copper penny. The blade still cuts as if nothing has happened. I am thankful it did not hit the nickel. The copper did not faze the carbide tips. Not that I would advise cutting copper. I very truly like my Forrest woodcutter II blade.

Snaggle tooth.
Good blades, but this one lost a tooth on the first use. Flaw in the steel, I imagine. I'd still buy another one.

Have not really had the chance to use it all that much. But the little use I gave it seemed to preform very well

good cutting blade
cut boards and 1/" birch plywood with it. It had a smooth cut on both. No splintering was noticed on the 1/4" plywood, it left a smooth edge.

I have owned and worn out at least 3 Forrest Woodworker II 10" carbide saw blades. My experience with each of those was incredibly good. Each was 3/32" in width as I recall. The cuts made on my Delta Unisaw were so prercise that I routinely glued them without further use of any tool. Some of the items constructed for my grandchildren -- amoire, red-cedar line cherry chests (Woodcraft plans) dressers, etc., the use of which has not resulted in any join failures.
The hew blade is 1/8th in thickness. It cuts well enough but the kerf seems unreadsonably large. It was with some definite disappointment that to my surprise after its first use that I realized it was not the same thickness to that which I had become accustomed.
But, I am satisfied with the quality of all Forrest Products puirchased.

Clean but burns
Nice clean cuts. Burning problem with maple and walnut when ripping 3/4" lumber. Very friendly and helpful response from the people at Forrest who re-sharpened and re-ground with some improvement. Still getting there, haven't given up.

After using the Freud 80 tooth...
After using the Freud 80 tooth for a couple of years this blade was a dissapointment. It is not as smooth as the Freud in very hard wood and cuts a wider kerf. It left burn marks the first day out of the box in Brazilian Cherry.

I had a Freud LU84 10...
I had a Freud LU84 10 inch saw blade for 5 years. After numerous sharpenings, it became unusable. I was going to get the same blade, but after seeing the reviews of the Forrest Woodworker II, I decided I would spend the extra bucks and get it. Well I would take my LU84 back any day. Sure, the Forrest works well, but when ripping some red oak, I experienced chip out, even with a table saw insert. It produced a very smooth cut though. Not any smoother than the Freud. I don't have a stabilizer on the blade, and I didn't have one on the Freud. The Freud blade seemed to sing through the work, where this one sounds like it is ready to bind. I have a Delta Unisaw with a 3HP motor, so I know I have plenty of power. I think the Perma shield coating on the Freud makes the difference. Like I said before, the Forrest is a good blade, but for about 30 bucks cheaper, you can get one just as good , and in my opinion, better.

Nice blade. Very stable laterally. Cuts well with minimal tear-out. However, it is not very well balanced radially. With this blade my table saw vibrates significantly when I turn it off and the blade speed is running down. My saw is a 3hp Unisaw with a cast iron router table extension and a 3 1/4hp router attached. Plenty mass to absorb some minor vibration.

My bad Karma!
Let me begin by telling you that I have an unbelievable amount of bad luck when buying anything from tools to cars. If it's got a "lemon problem" it's the one I get. This is my second shot at a Forrest blade. Five years ago I bought one and returned to Forrest who said yes, it was out of balance. I bought this from Rockler and mailed it back to them today with sample cuts. When ripping Poplar you can see the score marks one or more teeth make on the edge. Totally unacceptable and I won't try another. My saw is a 10" Jet cabinet model and earlier this summer I replaced all 3 drive belts and the arbor bearings so know it's right. My old Tenryu blade makes a much better cut but has been sharpened all that it can.
