- 35MM Euro Hinge Drilling Jig
Overview
Ideal for large projects, this jig drills the standard 35mm cup hole and hinge screw pattern for Euro-style hinges using three integrated, permanently mounted drill bits. All of the bits are hex drive, so you can quickly drill all three holes without having to change tooling.
The jig has indexed settings for eight hinge cup tabs ("tab" is the term commonly used for the distance from the edge of the cup hole to the edge of the door). And it can be set up to drill small pilot holes for hinges held in place with screws. 35mm cup and two 7/64" pilot hole drill bits are included.
What's included
(1) 35mm Euro Hinge Drilling Jig, 35mm cup
(2) 7/64" Pilot Hole Drill Bits
(2) 7/64" Pilot Hole Drill Bits

What is the tab setting for full overlay hinges?
A shopper
on Jun 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The mounting of euro door hinges usually has the cup of the hinge between 2.5mm to 5mm from the door edge. Hinge selection for 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, etc. overlay is based upon the chosen hinge from the respective hinge vendor. For your review please visit "Installation of cup hinges using DrillJig drilling templates" on youtube authored by Hettich. Regards.

I recommend using scrap wood to determine exactly what you need. This will then determine your setting. The jig works wonderfully!!

Is it plastic or aluminum?

BEST ANSWER: Not plastic, don't think it's aluminum either, however it is metal.
It's a good jog, particularly if you have many holes to bore.

The knobs and levers are plastic. Everything else is metal. It is a nice jig even though it is a little tedious to set up.

Where can I get instructions on setting up the Hettich jig?
Les M
on Feb 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Instructions are included with the jig. However, they are in multiple languages, they are terse and you will need to interpret and practice just a bit to accomplish the task at hand. By studying the jig you can obtain good results. I have looked at other jigs in the market and most have some negativity to them.

Is there a way to set the depth?
Jeff F
on May 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The depth of the hole itself is pre-set and is perfect for the Euro style hinges. If by depth, you are referring to the distance from the edge of the cabinet door to the center of the hole, yes that is adjustable. I have my jig guides set to position 4 to match my most of my existing hinges. But for the new hinges I have been getting I need the 4.5 setting to move the hole back an extra 1/8 inch. Hope this was useful.

Best I can tell, no. The depth is preset for a standard European cup hinge. Having said that, there is nothing in the directions indicating a way to change the depth, but in a schematic drawing it shows two depths, one at 11.8mm and one at 13mm. The instructions are not very helpful.

Drilling jig is specific to the euro hinge. Depth and size exactly conform to the euro hinge cup.

The Hettich standard drill pattern is 52-5.5 and 52-9 and the jig is set for these measurements. Is the jig adjustable to a 48-6 and 45-9.5 pattern? It appears from the photos there are fixed pins on the drill bit holders which locate into fixed position holes which may make adjustment other than factory pre-set difficult. Would appreciate help from anyone who has used the jig for other drill patterns. Rick

very accurate jig
It works great. It was preset by the supplier. I had an existing predrilled door to match it with. It was right on the money. One thing a little out of tolerance was one of the drill bits was sticking out longer than the other. Read the manual to remove bit. Still cant get the sucker out. Haven't given up yet.

Works Great!!!
I was replacing visible kitchen hinges with hidden hinges. This jig allowed me to precisely place the holes where they are supposed to be; the same distance from the edges of the cabinet doors; and the proper depth (along with two pilot holes for the attaching screws). The only thing it didn't do was drill the attaching holes the size for a rubberized dowel that came with the hinge to allow a more secure attachment for the large part of the hinge; however, the pilot holes were there so enlarging those holes was fairly easy. I easily replaced all the hinges in less than one afternoon . . . and the best part was that no incorrect drilling/damage to cabinet doors occurred. Highly recommend — worth the money.

Quick Set Up; Accurate Holes
This was a hard purchase due to the price, but the results were far better and faster than doors I have made on a drill press. I would buy this again with no hesitation and wish I would had done this a long time ago.

Great Tool!!
I bought mine from Rockler probably 10 years ago. I've bored thousands of holes. I only use the 35 mm since I use the screw on hinges. I build most cabinets on the job. This tool is rugged and portable. I've replaced the bit only once and it cuts clean and accurate holes every time. If there is a negative it's a very small one. If you're moving fast and don't pay attention you can bump the cam adjusters out of alignment. Other than that, I'm glad to see it is still on the market!!!

Purchase this for a mobile requirement to drill hinge cup holes for my cabinet business. This jig works great! You do have to screw on the hinges as this particular jig come with a 7/64" pilot hole. The tab feature is easy to adjust and very useful. This product is way cheaper than the Blum version and it works great with Blum hinges.

I purchased this for my small wood shop. It does a great job and is fast to use once it is set up. You work off the center line of hinge and the jig for franeless cabinets is dead on. I did have to figure out how to set up the jig on my own because the directions are not in English, this took some time. Please print the directions in English. This is a great tool.
