BEST ANSWER: Your glass would be a very tight - if not impossible - fit if you tried to use this track; it's just barely over 1/4".
I bought it for the same purpose (china cabinet doors), but my glass is only 3/16" - even that will be close!
However, my project got put on hold, so I haven't actually used it yet, but I think it will be fine for what I need.
Hopes this helps you decide what NOT to buy!

David M
on Dec 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If you look closely at the picture you might be able to see the height of the top track is greater than the height of the bottom track. That height difference allows you to lift the sliding panel into place over the bottom track. Gravity and the top track then hold the panel into place.

I am building a cabinet, have two 10" x 22" x 1/8" thick glass panels. need track hardware?
Dana E
on Aug 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Dana,
The double track in plastic will work very well. I recently made a cabinet with similar size doors and the track worked very well. I used plexiglass plastic for the doors to reduce the overall weight of the cabinet. Lowes will cut the to size. Do some figuring first and you may both doors out one piece. Saves a few bucks. Lastly think about the handle placement on the doors. Hard to get them off if you put them on the wrong side. They come with the track.
Good luck. It should go pretty easily.

If I'm not mistaken this track is designed for 1/4 inch glass and not the 1/8 inch as you specify. I'd be very concerned about the 1/8 inch glass being strong enough. Hopefully the glass is laminated or tempered.
I don't think the 1/8 glass will operate correctly in the track. Note that the picture shows a rib running down the center of each track. That rib is what the glass rides on. I fear that your 1/8 glass will slip to one side or the other of that rib and bind.

Hi - I assume this track will work well for your cabinet - that's nearly exactly what I bought it for. It was a nice, low-cost option. Unfortunately, my cabinet project got "off track" and put on indefinite hold. Therefore, I can't tell you anything about the finished product, or how well the tracks actually function, as the pieces are still stashed in the garage. Wanna buy mine?

What other hardware will I need with the track?
Billie S
on Jun 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The track works well by itself. I have glass doors that I put in the track. I would suggest a handle, hole, or tab on the sliding door if it doesn't already have one. For mine I used self-adhesive clear plastic tabs that I bought from glass people. For cutting the track I would suggest a hand saw and miter box. It was a cleaner, safer cut compared to a power tool and the material cuts easily. I cut a dado into the top and bottom of my cabinet to receive the track and glued it in place with construction adhesive. This makes it virtually invisible.

You will need either small screws or an adhesive to hold the tracks in place.if the bottom track has a snug fit, you will only need a backer.

Do these upper and lower tracks work for the side tracks as well?
Daren W
on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I didn't use them for the sides, however there shouldn't be a problem using them on the side of the opening if you're just using them to block any opening that might occur at the ends of the sliding door panels. I would use the deeper of the two tracks for that purpose so be sure you order enough track to accomplish that. I fastened my tracks with 3m double face tape along the entire length and they've stayed in place for 2 years now.

Vivian S
on May 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Take the top to bottom opening measurement prior to installing the track and subtract 7/16". This will allow you to pop up into the larger track and then place into the shorter lower track. The width of the glass should have a 1" overlap. So for a 41" opening, you would need two pieces of 21" wide glass to achieve the 1" overlap.

I used two of these tracks for a 75 inch cabinet with sliding doors that sits over a gaucho bed. Worked well with 1/4 panels.

The track works very well it was easy to cut and my panels slid nice and smooth. One thing I would recommend is that they would come prebored . I use brads to secure them.

Snake Enclosure
I couldn't find sliding door track anywhere that was narrow enough to mount to 3/4" Maple, not even a glass shop. This door track worked perfectly and I mounted using construction adhesive instead of hardware. Would definitely buy again. Works best with 1/4" glass for snug fit. Anything smaller in thickness will have some play in it.

Worked perfectly for snake enclosure using 1/4" thick glass for a tight fit.

Sliding Door Track
These tracks do exactly what they were designed to do and they are easy to work with. The plastic is soft but still hard enough to handle the brad nails. That being said, I unintentionally left them in my hot car all day and they bowed severely. However, this was easily fixed by setting them on my driveway to let the warm sun and gravity coax them back to their original shape.

Perfect for adding Over Cabinet Storage
I used this track to add glass enclosed storage above my Kitchen cabinets. I used power grab construction adhesive to install the track both upper and lower. Some of my glass panels are stationary while others slide. I will be displaying my collectibles 'dust-free' now. I did paint the tracks with silver spray paint.

Plastic Sliding Door Track
The plastic sliding door track was what we needed to finish our workbench project. Was happy to find the door track in black at Rockler.com. The track was easy to install and looks nice.

The tracks work great. I used small black screws to hold them in place and am using a 1/4" clear polycarbonate for my glass.

Works great for Aquarium Hood Applications
I needed to build a hood for my aquatic turtle tank setup. I purchased these tracks and 3/8" plexi panels to allow access from the side to access and feed the turtles.
This product was simple to install. I used Titebond to adhere the top track to a thin strip of pine & the bottom track went into a dado and was glued in a similar manner inside the track. Both have been exposed to moisture & water and the tracks have stayed in place, with no movement. They are easy to clean out and they give the hood a really nice finished appearance. I searched around but this was the only set I could find locally. Well worth the price and a great product for this application!

Did the Job for a Simple Utility Cabinet
I got this for a simple garage utility cabinet made primarily out of 3/4 ply, with 1/4 ply doors. For the tracks, I used a dado blade at 13/16th and then JB Weld Epoxy to glue them in. (Did not use brads to tack it down; didn't want nails to potentially interfere with smooth sliding.) Also, added some paste wax to the door tops/bottoms. The product works well. It's all fairly simple. It does get very cold in that part of garage in winter, so we'll see how the material holds up after a few years of potential freeze and summer cycles.

Worked great, very easy to work with
Appropriately sized rabbets in the top and bottom of the cabinet case and glued the tracks in. Worked beautifully. I used quarter inch ply for the sliding doors and they slide very smoothly with no binding. I built one cabinet for the garage with these, now I'm going to order two more sets for more cabinets.

This is a great product that is easy to work with. My only complaint is that you have to drill your own mounting holes and recess the heads of the tiny screws so the glass/lexan can pass freely. Next time I would try to glue them in place.

Used for a bearded dragon cage...
Used for a bearded dragon cage made for my grandson. Not stated in description: Both top and bottom tracks included in Qty of 1. Attachment: For flush mount I used light 1/8 bead of Gorilla polyethlene glue along middle of track only then medium pressure clamps, 5-6 per 4'. Mark track line because plastic track will wander along 4' distance when clamped. Instructions give method of determining glass measurement. Shade it minus a 1/16" since glass cutters use rulers as a general guide.

I build cages for my exotic reptiles, and many (like Boa Constrictors) need to be very secure, especially here in Florida. A friend recommended this track to me, and I have been very impressed - it is easy to use and install, and very affordable, and in convenient lengths for the cages I build.

We built a Bearded Dragon cage (40"X 2' X 2'). This glass track worked perfectly. You do get two pieces (one for the top & one for the bottom). It is good guality & worked great for our cage. It was shipped within a day or two & took less than a week to receive it. We are using 1/4" plexi glass in it but can use actual glass too. The price was reasonable too! Thank you.

It Worked
I would have given if 5 Stars if it was easier to attach with screws. Built in recessed screw holes would have made this a lot easier to use.
I attached it with Epoxy. The other option was double sided tape.

I have built two cabinets using this track. It is a very good product. The directions indicate the track may be glued in place, but does not suggest a type of glue to use. Polyurethane glue will not bond to the plastic track.

I used this track to build...
I used this track to build a Bearded Dragon cage and a Tortoise enclosure. Both worked well and detailed instructions come with the product it is easy to cut using a hack saw for your proper dimensions. Only think I would have liked to see would be some type of mounting such as double sided tape or holes for screws or nails that would still allow for the glass to slide other than that the plastic sliding door tracks work very well.
