I do a lot of layout on electrical pull boxes for conduit holes, mounting holes, etc. Plus, I want an easy way of transferring marks around wood projects

I have been looking for an easy to use layout tool for marking lines on 90 degree corners. I have used this tool to mark lines on baseboards that I made. Great for the mitered corner layout! One of the most useful layout tools I have. I wish it came with inch measurements instead of metric.

I seem to run into a need for this type of marking on many projects. Usually. I have to fiddle with my adjusting square. This looks easier and hopefully more accurate..

BEST ANSWER: The square is machined from an aluminum extrusion. The original extrusion is anodized but the machined ends and the "window" openings are "as machined," neither polished nor anodized.

Indespensible tool
I'm surprised nobody has come up with something like this long ago. Just wish it were in inches, not metric. But it does the trick just the same.

Very useful
It is a well-made simple tool that does a simple job very well. Certainly much easier to be accurate in bringing a line around an edge with this tool than with an ordinary square.

This gauge is made of 1/8" thick aluminum and really feels good in the hand. I especially use it to carry pencil lines around two sides of a piece of wood. The 45° to a straight line function is also useful.

This is one of those tools you have to have in your box/bag for layout work and it's not going to put you in the poor house either. Yeah it's in metric....so what!

Very well engineered and accurate; practical and very handy tool that I should have bought earlier. Markings in centimeters more useful than inches (who still works with the medieval imperial system for small objects???) and assure higher precision. Besides, Rockler's fast service and top of the class customer service - unbeatable. Thanks for the offer!

I have been looking at this...
I have been looking at this kind of marking tools for some time, the most of them cost twice as much. It is a very handy tool for taking your mark around a corner and keeping your line straight all the way around a board.

Not As Good As I expected.
I thought the tool I was ordering had standard rule markings. They turned out to be metric, so not as useful to me. The reason I bought this, besides its obvious usefulness, was because I have another Shinwa tool and have really liked it. The other tool is stainless steel; I was disappointed to learn that this tool is made from aluminum. I scared this will hit the floor at some point and be the end of it.

Serves it's purpose as a saddle square but...
...since most plans and projects are measured in standard and not metric I just cannot give it more stars.

Pencil only
I was looking for a saddle type marker and thought this was a good one. Only problem I have is that you have to use a pencil. I prefer using my marking knife but the first pass found me cutting the aluminum with the knife! Not good as the edge will loose accuracy in short order. Debating whether to return it or only use pencil with this gauge.

It would have been nice to let everyone know that all dimensions are centimeters not inches. Buyer beware.Editor's note: We agree Scott and have this listed in the "More Info" page of this offer.
