- 6'' Pistol Grip Hold-Down Clamp/Spreader
Overview
This fast-action bar clamp has a pistol grip closing mechanism that's the reverse of the more common orientation. This makes them very comfortable to use as hold-downs at your workbench, drill press table or router table, as the bar is pointing downward, and won't obstruct your work. Of course, they make excellent assembly clamps as well. They offer quick conversion from a bar clamp to a spreader.
Features:
- Durable nylon-filled fiber jaws
- 6'' clamp capacity
- 12'' maximum spread
What's included
(1) Pistol Grip Hold-Down Clamp/Spreader

BEST ANSWER: I can't give you the exact holding power in poundage but I can tell you that when I put a 3/4 " piece of wood in the clamp jaws, I can't pull the piece out from the side. When I pull up on the piece the green plastic cap wants to come off with the wood. For the money, it's a good clamp. Jaw spread is only 6" however, good for small items.

Now, I didn't squeeze it onto a scale, but I just finished using this about an hour ago.
Seems to me that if I squeeze it onto a planed board, I would be able to lift about 50 pounds. I think that's enough pressure to hold a jig in place but not enough for a glue up.

Heavy duty piece at a great sale price.
Once you get used to the unique button for allowing them to slide, they are very user friendly. Wish I had bought a couple more when they on sale.

Affordable well built clamps great for beginners and pros alike.
I was very pleased with the purchase of my 6" pistol grip clamps. They are very affordable at regular price, but to my surprise they were on sale for basically half off. Super Bargain! They are well built and hefty. They grip real good with no slippage. I plan on purchasing more a lot more.

Wonderful Tool
I bought this clamp/spreading tool for it's spreading capability. Since using it, I really appreciate the release mechanism the most. The easy to press button, rather than a lever which you have on most easy release clamps, is the key. The button activates a spring type mechanism that releases the clamp so that it comes loose immediately....no tugging or two hand operation as with other clamps. It is so easy to use, I would buy more just for that feature.

Great Clamp
I have many clamps, but I bought a pair of these mostly for the spread feature. Now that I have used them, I am most happy with the release feature. No levers, no bars to tug on, just press the button and the jaws spring loose making the release an easy operation. Easiest clamps I've ever used and they hold as well as any of this type.

They are the bomb!
I have already used these for both clamping and spreading and I haven't got them out to the shop yet. I wished I had ordered a bunch more so I could keep some in the house. I hope they go on sale again but if not they are still worth the regular price. Get some, you won't be disappointed.

decent grip for light duty applications
These do work well for small projects that don't require a lot of clamping force. I did notice that while clamping the clamp bows a little. Not enough to worry about but the first time I saw it I was worried that it wouldn't clamp uniformly. Everything has turned out well and I use them a lot.

I have three more identical clamps. Because of their quick one handed use, they have become my go to clamps. I don't know about their longevity, however, so far so good.

Clamp is more favorably used for spreading rather than clamping wish the trigger was reversed but clamp seems to hold fairly well.

Middle of the road clamps
They are nice but not great. My Craftsman clamps are also reversible but much easier to do because you just press a button while these clamps require you to unscrew and then screw back in the lock. They slide freely when pressing the release button which my Craftsman don't do but my best clamps do as well. The jaws are not parallel like all my other clamps but they do have good gripping force and don't slip like Harbor Freight ones.

Strong clamp but bad release
Really do not like the push button release on this clamp. Once you squeeze it tight, it is difficult to push the button in that does the release.

Just Okay
This product is okay at the sale price. At full price I much prefer Irwin. The push button release is hard to actuate with a tight clamp and the plastic wing nut broke off on first use. 2 1/2 stars.
