Red Oak Staircase Bunk Beds

Red Oak Staircase Bunk Beds

This very large project was custom built for a customer who wanted bunk beds, but like the staircase feature and the copious storage provided by the five under-stair drawers and three under-bed drawers. The frame and stairs are all red oak. The drawers are three-quarter poplar with red oak applied fronts. This project used over 200 screws, although none of them are visible. The hardware for the project was from Rockler.
There were many challenges with this project. Building a staircase is more a carpenters skill, but after some practice, this furniture maker was able to get it done. Lining up all of the safety rails and stiles was sometimes nerve wracking. We used two dowel pins in each end of each stile to attach to their respective rails. Easier with an extra pair of hands. This is a difficult but highly rewarding project.

Time to Build: 101-300 Hours    Difficulty: Difficult

Rockler Parts Used for This Project:

"Have been a return customer for a number of years, and a recent experience has really cemented that bond for me. After using my Rockler lighted magnifying lens for a few months, one of the wires from the battery pack came loose. When I contacted Customer Service to inquire about sending the unit back, they instead sent me a brand new one - no questions asked, no return expected, no charge whatsoever. This simple step - coupled with top quality, innovative products - ensured my repeat business more than any other advertising technique or gimmick could ever do. Keep up the good work, Rockler!"
