Crib in Maple and rosewood finish

This was my first real piece of furniture to build. I had always planned on building furniture for my kids but wanted to get some other projects under my belt first. Apparently God had another plan and I needed a crib sooner than what I had planned. I used the convertible crib plan and hardware from Rockler, although I modified the plan a little. Everything went together smooth and the dimensions in the plan work perfectly. I did not use the dowels as called out in the plan, I used pocket screws instead. Additionally, I thought a typical 3/4 in. piece of lumber was a little flimsy for a headboard/footboard leg so I increased thickness to 1 1/4 while keeping slats centered on the front 3/4 so that inside dimensions would not be changed leaving an unsafe gap between the headboard and mattress.

Time to Build: 21-50 Hours    Difficulty: Moderate
