These Extreme Birdhouses are all made from 100 year old reclaimed barn wood . They are mounted 9 ft in the air on a single post .
I rip the barn boards( hemlock) into 1" strips then bevel both sides to give them a log style look .It takes me anywhere from a week up to 6 weeks to build one of these bird hotels . My largest birdhouse to date is 9 ft wide , 8 ft tall and has 103 apartments . I use a finish nailer with 2 1/2" galvinized nails to attach the logs .
The birds move in them as fast as I can put them up .
