The Sink and Stove set were built for a nephew and niece, and I endeavoured to keep it all in wood (except for a couple of screws in the handles and hinges). Even the sink is fully wood (made from 19mm pine, laminated together) I designed it on paper, then refined it in AutoCAD, before building it in one weekend. The doors have 3D routered designs, and are all rail & stile w raised panels. It was left unfinished so the parents could choose to leave it, varnish it, stain, or paint.
I really enjoy making kids furniture - imagining them playing with the toy while you are building it really connects you to the project and why you are really doing it. It also helps inspire you to take details to that next level, imagining them playing with the toy and its features.
