My wife and I had bought a huge and wonderful antique hall mirror at an auction. It was notable for carved corner blocks on the frame rather that mitered corners.

She loved the style and look of the hall mirror, so I created a Cheval style dressing mirror to match it for our bedroom. I copied the frame moldings and corner blocks, scaling them down to fit the smaller mirror. The frame and stand are mostly mahogany, with Brazilian cherry used for the blocksat the bottom of the stand. Each block holds four mortise and tenon joints, so I wanted a harder material there. A very light stain blended the colors nicely.

Time to Build: 21-50 Hours    Difficulty: Moderate
