Our old deck was falling apart, so I decided to undertake building a new one myself and build it stronger and with a more complex floor pattern because of the money I would save by hiring an outside contractor. The most difficult part was getting the beams set and concreted in level. The other challenge was getting the herringbone pattern laid out and running correctly. I did that because I wanted a pattern rather than the standard 45 or straight decking.I build it out of #1 and #2 pressure treated pine and stained it a cedar color.

Time to Build: 101-300 Hours    Difficulty: Difficult

"Have been a return customer for a number of years, and a recent experience has really cemented that bond for me. After using my Rockler lighted magnifying lens for a few months, one of the wires from the battery pack came loose. When I contacted Customer Service to inquire about sending the unit back, they instead sent me a brand new one - no questions asked, no return expected, no charge whatsoever. This simple step - coupled with top quality, innovative products - ensured my repeat business more than any other advertising technique or gimmick could ever do. Keep up the good work, Rockler!"
