I did a couple of things different than the plans called for. I used no screws at all. This project is all mortise and tenon. When I attached the seat slats I used pegs, to get a good glueing surface I split the pegs to get a better surface. I used Gorilla Glue for the entire project. The wood is Cypress, to save a little money I bought it unmilled which worked to my benifit.
