These two pens are my first attempts at turning any inlaid project. I would not recommend these kits for a novice woodturner. If someone has some esperience turnng a few pens then these kits will pose no problem. The assembly of the woodworkers pen was a bit tedious but well within the ability of most woodworkers. The instruction were also very good. I used a variety of turning tools but a medium gouge worked best. They were sanded to 8000 grit and finished with Hut products Crystal Coat. I give these kits a 5 star rating.
