The XL twin bed will hold a 80" long mattress and the trundle a standard 75" one. The bed was designed and built for my 80 year young mother to use during her visits. She chose to use the trundle bed because it was less distance to fall, if she happened to roll out of bed.
Joinery: Mortise & Tenon, Dovetail, Tongue & Groove
Wood: Curly Maple with Cherry Inlays, Oak slats, Birch buttons
Finish: Gold Label Interior Pentofin - hand rubbed
Power Tools: Table saw, drill press, router, joiner , belt sander & finish sander
Hand Tools: Block planes
Hardware: 5/16" diameter 5" long carriage bolts to hold the sides to the ends. This allows the bed to be easily disassembled for moving.
Time to Build: 51-100 Hours
