This island is just the first part of our complete Kitchen renovation.
We are completly veneering all the cabinets and I am building all new drawers and making arched raised-panel doors and drawer fronts from Red Oak.
Tools used are: Jet ProShop 10" table saw with Incra LS32-TS-WF 32" Table Saw Joinery Fence System and Bench Dog PROMAX Router Table Extension with Rockler Router Lift FX and Bosch 1617EVS Router.
My inspiration was simple: my wife has had the same kitchen for 40 years and she deserved the complete make-over.
Tips: Get the tools you need-it makes the job a lot easier. Also, it helps to be retired!! Plus, my Son has helped me tremendously with a lot of the labor-intensive work.
How it went: A lot of the time spent on this project was used in preparing: cutting out old dishwasher, tiling floor where dishwasher was, converting bar to island, veneering, adding mixer lift addition, building-finishing and installing the drawers and doors, wiring the island and having the Granite countertop installed.
But, hey, I am about a third of the way done.
