Rockler RSS Feeds

What are RSS feeds? RSS feeds are a convenient way to obtain news and information from web sites. Our RSS feeds are updated regularly. You need either a browser that is compatible with RSS feeds (such as Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3), an RSS reader (often called a news aggregator), or an email program that is capable of displaying RSS feeds. Then you can check your collection of RSS feeds whenever you want, and your reader will display new information clearly and conveniently. You can avoid signing up for yet another email list, and you have total control over your subscription. (For a good introduction to RSS feeds, their benefits, and how to use them, please go to CNET.com and view the "Video Tutorial")

How Do I Sign Up? Below are links that you can use to sign up for our RSS feeds. The button called "RSS" is a standard XML link. For browsers and many standard RSS readers, you can simply drag the RSS button into your list of feeds (more information shown below). If you subscribe to one of the other services represented in the right column, simply click on the associated button.

Internet Explorer 7 has built-in RSS feed support. You just click on the RSS icon, which gives you a preview of the feed. Then click the "Subscribe to this feed" link in the top section to add it to your favorites. When you click on the favorite at a later time, you should see an up-to-date list of the latest posts with a preview of the content.

Firefox 3 also has built-in support, but you might find it more convenient to use the free Firefox extension called Sage:
Just install the extension. Then to use it, you select Tools > Sage (or click Alt-Z). The installation may also install a little green "leaf" in your toolbar, which you can also click to access Sage. Sage opens up in a panel on the left side of the browser with your list of feeds. Just drag the orange RSS icon from our site into that panel to add the feed to your list. Then you can click on the link you just added, and it should automatically find the correct title, plus it will display the current posts.

As you add more feeds to your list from other sites, you have a convenient overview of which ones contain new content. In Firefox's Sage list, you may need to click the Refresh icon (two arrows in a circle) on the top left of the Sage list. Then in either Internet Explorer or Firefox, the feeds with new items will appear in bold.

(To learn more RSS feeds and news aggregators, or to download a reader, browse the wikipedia.org site, which is an online encyclopedia. You can also find a list of recommended readers at blogspace.com)
