- All-In-One Low-Profile Contractor Clamps
Overview
Lower profile and wider jaw creates more stability! Wide lever handles and a click-lock sliding jaw make it simple to position and secure these clamps for use as a straight edge guide for circular saws and routers and as a fence for your table saw or drill press. A very low 17/32" profile body and flat top allow many applications without obstructing tools. Easy-to-read full color measuring scales enable outstanding accuracy anywhere along the clamp. Onboard T-Tracks fit select clamp accessories, sold separately. Rigid, lightweight construction makes these clamps a joy to operate. Each clamp is 2-1/2" wide. Contractor Saw Plate (#33408, sold separately) and Contractor Router Plate (#38428, sold separately), Stop Block (#31481, sold separately) and Squaring Attachment sold separately.

can you skew the cut on 4x8 sheets so that I can cut 16" down to 15" - 48" wide?
Phillip B
on Apr 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The clamp is long enough so you can skew it 8-10”, but the clamping mechanism is designed to work at a 90 degree angle. It might hold on a 1” skew, but you might bend the clamping mechanism or the entire length of the clamp might bend/warp. You could either use shims so the clamping mechanism has a flat surface to clamp too, or use C clamps to hold it in place.

I would definitely go with adding wedges then clamping as I found the built in clamping mechanism really doesn't like to be clamped at much off of 90 degrees.mi think C clamps would defeat the purpose as well since they're likely to get in the way of your router or skilsaw.

The clamp, out of the box, clamps perpendicular to the edge. However, you could make wedges to fit between the material edge and clamp to cut any diagonal.

Can this clamp be used as a table saw fence?
Brad U
on Mar 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Maybe, the edge of my cast iron top has a chamfered edge and I think that it cuts deep enough to keep the feet from grabbing the top. If you're table saw top has a square edge from the top to the side, I wouldn't see why you couldn't use it as fence.

Hi Stan,
Place the clamp on the piece, slide the back jaw tight to the piece while making sure the front jaw (by the flip down lever) is also tight to the work piece, then push down on the lever. ( lever should be straight when sliding the jaws tight on the work piece.

You only make the clamp touch the piece to be clamp not too tight. If it is you won't be able to get clamp to latch to it. There are 3 tensions on the clamp you'll know you have it right when it get progressively harder to clamp . First is snug second is clamped third is locked

when using flip the latch fully up, press the edge up against the board them slid the other end up against the board pushing the center of the latch tight , now flip the frond latch down till it locks tight.
if done right it will lock onto the board edge.

Do they make fixed router, circular saw, and stops guides for these?
David B

BEST ANSWER: They make a couple router guides for this clamp. I have one of them & it works great. I don't believe they make a saw guide for this clamp. As far as the stops go not to sure,
I just simply made my own stops with blocks of wood and some clamps. Ingenuity can go a long way. Have you searched Rockler lately for these items?

I don’t believe so but that is the point of this product is to be universal to all of those tools. You just have to find where your blade or router bit starts in comparison to the guide. I use mine a lot for all those tasks. The only down fall is making sure that it is square with your cut. Hope this helps.

My saw guide is not holding tight when clamped. What am I doing wrong?
William B
on Jul 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I can visualize two possibilities. One is that you are clamping thinner stock and it is causing the stock to buckle which would make the clamp come loose. the other is in putting the clamp on the board. The clamp handle needs to be in its released position (up) and then slide the grip at the other end of the clamp up to the board tightly. Then push the clamp handle down to secure the clamp.

The instructions state that the 2 pieces have to be pushed till a click is heard for secure lock. Please explain how to lock it to the correct length. Do I just move the movable side next to the board without trying to hear that click and lower the fixed lever to tighten? Is that enough? Thanks

on Nov 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's a great question. Yes, first make sure the blue handle is either flat or facing up, then move the movable side of the guide and press it to the work piece. You should hear a single click. Then make sure your guide is still exactly where you want it then apply a little downward pressure to the guide to hold it in place while you lock it in place by pushing the blue handle down in the locked position.

I'll be cutting 8 ft. sheets, but for monetary economy, i would like to use it for small pieces like the 48 inch side, etc.,-- is this overkill or should i purchase another clamp for smaller cuts since this large 99 inch might be cumbersome?
gene k
on Jan 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The clamps grip very strongly when adjusted properly, so your plan will provide a versatile, cost-effective solution, so long as you have a large enough workspace to maneuver them (which I imagine you likely do if you're cutting 8ft board). I've used a 39.5 inch clamp to make cuts as small as 6 inches without any issues. Just be sure to place the clamp on the side of the board that will not fall after the cut is made (or support it independently) in order to eliminate the larger clamps desire to twist the board as your cut progresses. Also, if the board is thin then extra support may be needed for the above reason, before the cut even begins. The clamps are by no means heavy or cumbersome but when they are twice the length of your cut or more, such measures may be necessary for precision and safety.

Yes I would because it can be awkward getting around the end of the straight edge that extends out especially if your work piece is half the size of smaller. The first one I bought was the 50" several years ago and I ended up getting the 24" a few months later.

Once I got units that did not have broken ends, they work great. I have two sizes and intend to get the 24" to make a complete set.

But this without regrets
I love this clamp, already used it several times ripping sheets of plywood. Cleaner and more practical than using a circular saw guide or jig, in addition to being able to be used for much more than guided cuts.

All in one low profile clamp is Great!
This tool has an easy to use slide lock which makes it easy for a single person to use. I also bought the circular saw and router adapter plates. Perfect for straight cuts on 4x8 sheets.

Only way to rip plywood/OSB
I got this because I was on special for $30. After using it not only would I pay to full price I think I might get the longer one.
It couldn't be an easier tool to use. Open up the sliding jaws, lay it on the piece you're trying to cut, snug it up, line it up and then push down the handle to lock it in place. It literally takes longer to ensure the offset of your circular saw fence to the edge of your blade.
As long as the edges of your board are parallel you'll get a perfectly square cut (see pictures).
I don't rip plywood/OSB that often but when I do I will be reaching for this vice trying to man-handle a sheet on the table saw.
Other than a track saw I can't imagine a simpler more effective method of ripping plywood/OSB, and this is a 1/10th the cost.

Great clamp for cutting sheet goods
I can rip plywood with the table saw, but use the circular saw for cutting along the 4 foot width. This clamp make the job much easier.

Great workshop tool
This clamping straight-edge is a must for every amateur woodworker. It provides clamping ability with a sturdy straight edge. My son-in-law and I used his clamping straight-edge to make some outstanding shelves for a kitchen pantry.

With very little set up, does what it is meant to do.
Combined with my circular saw, it gives me pretty accurate cuts. You still need to make sure that you're cutting edge is parallel with your finished. The jig is not self aligning. All in all very useful for me. 5 stars!

Great Tool!
I had been wanting one of these for a long time to help section up sheet goods and run dados with my router in work too awkward for my dado stack on the table saw. So I shopped around and found this one had all the features I wanted at a good price. I have been using it since I got it and see no end in sight. It has gained it's place on the wall along side my "go to tools' for sure. It does exactly what it is designed to do with no shortcomings and that is exactly what a tool "should do" but few seem to these days. Easy to use and affective. A satisfied customer.

I consider myself a small guy and cutting plywood across is rather difficult to handle this guide made it much easier to cut and also very straight as long as you line it up correctly.

Very Versatile Guide
I was going to get an edge guide for my router, but the Rocklers associate turned me on to these as a more versatile solution. I've already used it on several projects with a router and to hold parts against while screwing them in place.

it was a bit of a pain to set up since the pre-drill holds didn't match my bosch router... so i needed to buy a center cone before i could attach it...
