Overview

If you like to dip your ice cream scoop in hot water between scoops, then you'll find this highly conductive aluminum scoop a time-saving treat. Aluminum conducts heat more quickly than steel, which means a quick dip is enough to warm it, and prevent the ice cream from sticking to the scoop. Turn your own handle for a great gift, or keep it for your own scooping pleasure. Turning blank not included.

Technical Details:
  • The Aluminum Ice Cream Scoop Hardware Kit is includes a threaded insert - simply drill a hole in your blank, thread in the insert, and thread the scoop onto the turned handle.
  • Constructed of lightweight, conductive aluminum.
  • Carefully contoured to create smooth, round scoops of ice cream.
  • Turning blank not included.
  • The minimum blank size we recommend is 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 6", in a strong hardwood such as maple, cherry, walnut, oak, or yellow birch. Of the imported hardwoods bubinga, purpleheart, gongola alves and cocobolo make wonderful handles.
  • NOTE: This product is hand wash only; do not recommend using dishwasher.

the kits I have made use the same threaded insert and require a 1/2" hole in hardwoods and slightly smaller for soft woods. If you have a set of calipers you can measure the outside diameter of the insert not including the threads. So measure between the threads and that will give you the drill size and again you go slightly bigger for hardwoods so it wont crack, in this case it is 1/2". Usually when I get a kit with no instructions a quick google search nets me the answers I need. Good Luck, Bob

Be it that I am new to turning, I really could have used some directions with my scoop. Still haven't been able to turn because I am not sure what size hole to drill. When I figure that out, I will turn the wood.
