I thought I had found the ideal caster for me -- a simple ball-bearing that's only 19 mm tall. Then I saw the warning that it was only to be used as a face-up load transfer device, and not as a castor. Any suggestions?

I didn't intend to have that yellow caster included with my question. I guess I thought my text would be enough. I have a photo from the Hudson Bearings catalog that shows exactly what I'm looking for -- can include it in this reply somehow? Funny thing is that while I saw the warning about not using that particular item (not from Hudson) as a castor, the Hudson catalog talks about "caster substitution" as though it were no big deal. I'm getting close. How do I stop the replies to my original misleading question?

Bud I used this caster on a cabinet that is 24"W X 24"Deep and 36" tall. I then set a small refrigerator on top of the cabinet. That is the only way I have used this caster and it is working great as it should. Any other application of this caster is a question I would also have.
Have a great day. Dan

I have new laminate flooring and I wonder if these would mark or scratch laminate floors?
Louie
on Feb 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't expect they would as the balls on these casters have a hard, rubberized coating. I don't have any laminate floors. I use these casters on dressers, coffee table and bedside tables but that is on carpet. I do have a different type of caster, purchased from Rockler, that is the brass option with the black wheel. Have had them for 12 years on a dining room table. Some of that time on an oak hardwood floor with no issues.

Can these be used on legs that are not @90 degrese
Robert
on Feb 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Robert, I used these casters on the legs of a split leaf table. i found them to be of high quality and they served my purposes well. I don't know abt use on angled legs. If u can't find any to serve ur needs u might think abt cutting wedges to square the legs with the floor and attach them to the legs. Good luck.

BEST ANSWER: I did not find a smaller one in my search. The 2" caster works well on both hard floors and carpet. The only thing I know that has a lower profile is a brass wheel.

Poor plastic casting quality
The wheels had excess plastic at the parting line of the mold that was not removed properly. The result was that the wheels would not roll smoothly on a hard flat surface.
