Overview

Smooth, whisper-soft closing action paired with an equally graceful appearance make the new BLUMotion hinges a standout for visual and tactile aesthetics. BLUM's engineers have managed to integrate a virtually invisible damping mechanism into the much-loved Clip Top hinge design, preserving all of the 3-way adjustability and clip-on ease of the original. No more rattling glasses and banging cabinet doors and no bulky apparatus on the outside of the hinge. In addition, each hinge has a switch for turning the soft-close feature on or off: perfect for adjusting the speed of the close. Switching off one hinge on smaller, lighter doors allows the same soft-close speed throughout your kitchen. Self-lubricating with a full 110° opening angle. Compatible with doors up to 1" thick. This hinge is compatible with the JIG IT® Hinge Plate Template D #57345 (Sold Separately) for faster, more precise installation.


Note: Due to the new hinging action of the soft-close hinge, the original Clip Tops and Soft-Close Clip Tops may not be combined in the same door.

I've used Blum soft-close hinges for frame-less cabinets in the past and they work great. Needed more hinges for a face-frame cabinet this time, so I'm back for more Blum hinges. They are easy to install and a pleasure to use. Pricey yes, but they look great and work very well.

Are the referenced measurement ranges (3/8"-5/8" and 1/2"-3/4") for the door thickness or the amount of door overlay?

BEST ANSWER: The measurement ranges are for the overlay. These hinges were designed for a 3/4" thick door.

BEST ANSWER: I have absolutely no idea whatsoever.
I am building a face frame cabinet with drawers (overlay drawer faces) on one side and an overlay door (3/4" thick) on the other side. I want the hinges for the door to be on the center of the cabinet (i.e., next to the drawers so that door opening is on the outside of the cabinet). The center post is 1-1/4" wide and the drawers have a 5/8" overlap so I have 5/8" of space for the door to overlap and open before it will hit the side of the drawer faces. So here is the question: how much clearance do the Blum 110 deg hinges need on the outside of the door face? It looks like most compact Euro hinges don't "swing in" so that with the 3/4" depth of the door I will smack into the drawers even if my overlap is only 3/8". But does the Blum "swing in" so that the door essentially shifts away from the hinges as it opens so that I won't hit the drawer faces? I realize this is a bit complicated story and question. Thanks in advance.

BEST ANSWER: These hinges swing the door in in an amount approximately equal to what overlay you've adjusted it to. With a 3/8" overlay and the door open at 90 degrees, the door should still overlay the face frame by about 3/8".

BEST ANSWER: There are tabs on the front of the hinge mounting plate to position the plate the correctly on the front of the face frame. There are no other tabs which allows installation on any thickness face frame.
can I use this hinge even if bore has only a 2.5mm dimenson set back?

Would this hinge work on 3/8" partial overlay door in a face frame cabinet? Door thickness is 3/4", but there's a 3/8" lip/overlay all the way around the door, then the inside part is another 3/8". Face frame is 5/8" thick. If it would work, can anyone recommend a tool for doing the boring that's bullet-proof? I have no experience doing boring and want to be sure that I don't mess up my doors. (My existing hinges are partially concealed, and they leave an inconsistent gap around the door which is quite visible and drives me nuts. Have tried & tried to adjust the hinges to fix that, but no joy.) Thank you for any information you can provide!!!!

BEST ANSWER: Hi CreaoleRose, These hinges have the adjustability to move the door 1/8 of an inch from center, Ideally your door would have 1/2 instead of 3/8 overlay. If properly installed these should work fine and the adjustment should allow the door to be placed where it completely covers the opening. If the adjustment is not quite enough, you can shim the hinge at the face frame. for installation of hinges Rockler has a drill bit and guide which reduces the chance for errors but nothing is as bulletproof as reading and following the detailed instructions included with the hinge and the tool. good luck, Joe ...
I need to know how far past the face frame the door edge will protrude when opened to 90 degrees. I'm building a cabinet in a bathroom with tight clearance, and the door might hit the toilet if the hinge allows it to protrude out into the room. My overlay will be 1/2". Another way to phrase the question is: If I have a door with 1/2" overlay, and the door is opened to 90 degrees, how large is the space between the door edge and the face frame?

BEST ANSWER: My overlay is 5/8" and at 90 degrees the space between the edge of the stile and the face frame is about 3/8". If that is too close, you might want to adjust the width of your door and corresponding section of the cabinet. Great hinges!!

I don't write very many reviews but these hinges are so good that I had to write something on this. I build furniture & all types of cabinets from gun cabinets to credenzas to kitchen cabinets. These are the best hinges that I've found yet. They even come with 2 extra screws for people like me that drop screws & loose them. I will be using lots of these.

These work well. They close softly...
These work well. They close softly but with more force than the similar soft-close Silentia hinges. I'd recommend them over the Silentia- they seem to be more durable as well and are the same price.

High Quality Hinges for the most demanding projects
I've been ordering these hinge kits to complete a bathroom and now a pantry remodeling project. They close the doors completely and softly. They are adjustable in 3 dimensions; up and down, left and right and in and out for a perfect fit. They work well on small and very large doors. The kit comes with all necessary parts for one door. I plan on ordering more when I start remodeling the kitchen.
