Overview
BRIWAX is a solvent-based blend of beeswax and carnauba wax, two of of the finest wood-finishing waxes known to humankind. Most of the waxes found on the shelves today contain the solvents turpentine or mineral spirits. Briwax uses a much hotter solvent, toluene, that allows it to emulsify more durable waxes like carnauba to give better protection to your finished surfaces. The use of a hotter solvent results in the wax setting much more quickly, allowing a higher luster finish faster.

What color briwax for cherry wood

BEST ANSWER: Solely dependent on what finished color you wish to achieve. If you want to retain the natural look of cherry I recommend the clear.

Have dinning room chairs that have been painted cream color and have a recessed pattern I want to rub color into, will the wax rub in and excess wipe off flat surface without discoloring paint?
Brad B
on Oct 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, this is a difficult question to answer without all of the specifics. Briwax can enhance the visual appeal of patterns on painted furniture. How much depends on if you are using the original clear, or choose to use one the colored waxes. The cream color paint will be impacted to the same degree your pattern is, but the effect is to make the furniture look like it has history, and a story. Also, remember that the type of paint finish (flat, semi gloss, gloss) will also impact how well the wax will hold. For an all over effect, a light sanding where you would expect to see wear on a chair will create the most noticeable impact. Of course, trying it out on a less conspicuous part of the chair, or a practice board painted with the same color paint, would be the best option. Good luck!

Can this be Used to keep tools protected from rust? Wood planes. Chisels. Table saw tops. Saws. I have a dehumidifier. But want more protection.

BEST ANSWER: The short answer is no. Ideally you would use a light oil such as camellia, or a light mineral oil. My go to is the camellia oil. I have an old rag hanging by my sharpening bench, which at this point is saturated. A quick wipe at the end of a work session with the saturated rag keeps rust at bay.

which color is the best for different types of wood?
terry h
on Aug 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Color choice in my experience is based upon what you intend to have as your finished look. Because briwax is best used as a finish polish and protector over finished (lacquer, polyurethane, varnish, stain) surfaced, the color choice is based upon the color of the wood and what you desire for finished color. Darker colors can be used on darker wood to restore an original finish, or on lighter colored woods to enrich and/or darken them. I use the clear predominately because I want to enhance and bring out the color of the existing wood grain itself. However, I've used darker colored briwax to make wood such as birch and cedar have more of an oak or mahogany colored appearance. If you're wondering if there's a difference between use on harder or softer woods, I've found that application following the sealing with polyurethane works equally well with both hard and softer woods. I've also learned that its best to use clear briwax on a stained wood surface, however, if the stain dried too light in color you can use a colored wax instead of stripping and retaining. Hope this helps.

Can this wax be used on kitchen cabinets which are finished with a water-based lacquer, Emtech HBL 7000? Since water can damage lacquer over time, I want a litte more protection in areas where water is more likely to attack the lacquer, such as around the sink, dishwasher, & garbage hide-away drawer.
Thanks in advance

probably the best wax on the market for fine furniture. just use a clean applicator each time you use it. using a dirt applicator will not clean the surface as well

Applies easily,....I used a brush then put a lot of "elbow grease" into it. It's all in the cloth and motion after the application. Will buy again.

Wonderful product !
I had an end table that I spilled a hot cup of coffee on, it was a mess, the end table turned white due to the build up of household waxes over the years, Briwax brought it back to the Original finish. I will use Briwax in the future instead of spray waxes.

Anyone should be able to do this with little to no experience.
Easy to use and the results are stunning. The furniture we did looks like new! I give Briwax a 5 bevause of the end results and especially for ease of use!

Small pine table finished with "golden oak" Briwax.

perfect for beginners to pro's
I was recommended Briwax by the guys at Guiry's for my very first (ever) wood project, and it was amazing to see the results. Not only is the wax easy to use, but it's also forgiving to those who like to apply liberal amounts. Furthermore it provides a wonderful finish to a surface either shellac'd or sealed with polyurethane. Additionally, once dried, it's odorless and is so simple to buff with a cloth. I've used it n furniture and artistic wood projects, and the wax really brings out the beauty of the wood grain itself. It's durable and reliable. Heck, I even used it to quickly polish my dress shoes once and they shined like new. Fantastic product!

Supprisel consistancy
My shop is in my garage in Central Florida. It is summertime and vary warm. I opened the can expecting a semi solid. Instead I found soup. It made the application more difficult but was able to achieve the aged look on my project. Recommend storeing in cooler room prior to use.
