Great little jig

An absolute necessity if you don't have a drill press. The jig is fast and accurate. Do a test hole before you go for it to get the thing tuned in. The depth setting is a bit clumsy and will wear out on successive bottoming out but for a limited project run of hinges, its great.

Bought this for a small project, and it worked so well I have since used it to drill hinge holes on 34 doors with not problems. Door were all solid oak and used carbide bit. It has been so easy.

Well, first of all, Rockler shipped out the order within 24 hours. so kudos to them for that.I was stuck with a project that needed 8 sets of hinges. I hated to buy a drill press right now just for a small project, so I thought this jig would do the job. It did the job perfectly. I did have the doors on a workbench, and clamped the doors down to keep them stable, and used my left hand to push down and make sure the guide laid flat on all sides of the receiving end. BUT, I only have one HUGE suggestion: buy the carbide bit! If you think it is more expensive, it actually SAVES you loads of time. I was boring into oak, and the Rockler carbide bit performed flawlessly. Don't think twice, just buy it.
