Red Oak Staircase Bunk Beds |
|
Project Description: This very large project was custom built for a customer who wanted bunk beds, but like the staircase feature and the copious storage provided by the five under-stair drawers and three under-bed drawers. The frame and stairs are all red oak. The drawers are three-quarter poplar with red oak applied fronts. This project used over 200 screws, although none of them are visible. The hardware for the project was from Rockler. There were many challenges with this project. Building a staircase is more a carpenters skill, but after some practice, this furniture maker was able to get it done. Lining up all of the safety rails and stiles was sometimes nerve wracking. We used two dowel pins in each end of each stile to attach to their respective rails. Easier with an extra pair of hands. This is a difficult but highly rewarding project. Time to Build: 101-300 Hours Difficulty: Difficult Rockler Parts Used for This Project: 30923 - Sliding Security Bolt, Solid Brass with Round Knob 33373 - Delta Glide - Individual Package |
