Project Description: For me, the weed vase, or dry vase, has always been the go-to project when I've got a neat piece of wood and no particular idea what to do with it. A weed vase can be almost any shape or size. Since you never put water in it, holes in the blank or bark inclusions are no problem and any finish at all will work fine. This weed vase has a hollow form base made from carob with a piece of 3/4" zebrawood glued on top. I turned it largely using the Sorby multi-tip scraper, which can reach around the corner inside the urn and just as easily shear-scrape the outside for a nice surface finish. The lid/vase is black palm and macassar ebony. The finish is one coat of lacquer to seal the wood, the I buffed it with the Wood-N-Things buffing system for a high gloss "no-finish" finish.
