The tea box with inner boxes removed |
|
Project Description: This is a six-compartment tea box in goncalo alves and movingui (a.k.a. African satinwood). The inner boxes are maple, with lids from bloodwood, walnut, zebrawood, bubinga, purpleheart, and wenge. The knobs are cocobolo, and the feet are tulipwood. The boxes were finger jointed with the Woodsmith Box Joint Jig (The new jig from Rockler wasn't out yet, but it's better), and the big box was lined with a velvet covered cardboard bottom. The maple inner boxes are unfinished on the insides (tea is a flavor and odor sponge), and the rest is all finished with lacquer.
