Project Description: History 101.1: As a youngster, I had neither the aptitude nor much interest in woodworking. During Memorial Day Weekend of 1991, my daughter & I resurrected an old ShopSmith I bought several years earlier from my father. She needed extra credit in her 6th grade science class. So, we made two birdhouses together. I loved it. Things changed after that. I watched Norm every chance I got. In fact, using my VCR, I taped about 70 woodworking programs. I studied them carefully. I have been hooked ever since. History 101.2: In August of 1997, a committee of woodworkers was assembled to initiate and operate a unique ministry - a fully equipped cabinet shop in our church's new garage. I facilitate that program. History 101.3: During the late '90s & early 2000s, I was operations manager for the Mechanicsburg, PA Woodworkers Warehouse Store. Lots of knowledge, woodworking experience, and lasting associations were gained there. Demos were encouraged & I enjoyed doing them. History 101.4: In 2003, I retired and opened Sawdust Alley as a bona fide custom woodworking business. I like challenges and have a very low tolerance for repetition. Woodworking offers plenty of stimulation and opportunities to refine my craftsmanship.
