Wood Lock and Key |
|
Project Description: I decided to try my hand at building some locks 100% made from wood. The most important part to the whole lock design are 2 pieces 1/8" thick which must be springy enough to grasp the shackle and lock the padlock. I bought a 1/4" thick piece of ash from Rockler to use for the key spring pieces for the lock. I also used other Rockler products including maple lumber and red padauk from the cut-off box containing exotic hardwoods. The ash worked great for this wood lock! Wooden lock using Rockler maple, ash, and padauk Time to Build: 21-50 Hours Difficulty: Moderate Rockler Parts Used for This Project: 14184 - Ash - 1/4'' Thick 28047 - Exotic Cutoffs, 10 lb. Box |
