How easy is it to remove the adhesive from the workpiece after you're done?
gr8dane
on Jan 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is quite easy to pull it off so long as you can get it started. DON't jab a screwdriver under it and ruin your
workpiece. The tape is quite stickily. Use another small piece of tape to pull on the tape o your workpiece.
It will stick to it so you can pull up an end. cheers!

Removing the adhesive from the work piece is a cinch but good luck removing the backing paper from the tape before you place it on the piece. I don't know if this happened to anyone else but it takes me a long time to do this as it is very difficult. Would not work for me.

Not difficult at all. I either sand it off or use some mineral spirits... But usually it just goes with the tape. The trick is to get the separating tape started ... That is best done by scraping it hard... Almost crepe paper like

BEST ANSWER: This tape is much thicker and is not clear. It holds strong. I use it to hold down templates for routing signs. Is a bit difficult to remove the backing from either side. I use an exacto knive with a very sharp blade for this.

Hold Firm
I used the tape on my CNC machine to hold small parts I cut through. It was very sticky and held the parts exceptionally well. I liked how it was not real thick. I used very small pliers purchased from a box store to drag across the tape once it was affixed to the mounting surface. This caused the plastic to lift up but not the tape. I then grabbed the plastic with the pliers and peeled it off. It worked great and setting up projects was a snap!

Double sided tape
I use this all the time and when i do i stick a small pc. of paper at the end of the tape before pressing the end down so it is so much easier to grab the end and pull it off when i am done with my project. Also stick a small pc of paper on the end of the tape before cutting the tape of the roll so i can find the end for the next time inuse the roll.

Great for sign making templates
Bought another type of tape from rockler to stick my Rockler sign making templates to and would not stay stuck to neither the wood or the templates, but after buying this type i can remove the templates for three different passes and it still sticks perfectly. Love this product

Good stuff
First the stars are not identified so I'm assuming the far right one is for a 5 star rating. Also I would have thought that the stars would have lit up 1 - 5 after I clicked on the 5th star but that didn't happen either. Only the one star I clicked on light. You should fix that. Now about the tape it works like it's supposed to. It's got good adhesion and it's really strong which was a plus to me.

This stuff sticks!! An excellent product!! And for the people struggling separation of the tape, A good draw knife and getting down level with it and just going slow gets the job done!! I use 1/2" x 1/2" square piece of this stuff in each corner for my Cribbage boards and you still have to work to get the board loose, I love it!!

This is some powerful tape!
If you want some strong tape to hold a part to work on, or use to help assemble a jig or fixture, this is your tape! It also is fairly easy to remove when you are done. It will pull up some small wood fibers in soft wood, but if that is not an issue, this tape will get the job done.

Great Product
I used the double sided tape to adhere a template to wood for pattern cutting using a flush trim router bit. The tape was stickier than i thought, so I used less than anticipate for each piece. I was also able to 3-5 uses out of each strip. The price was a bit much, but for how much use I will get out of it, I think this will last me through a lot of projects.

Very sticky
I have used this to keep templates in place while using my router and the template has never slipped. Sometimes I think it works too good. I have had problems getting the template removed for the project. It can pull pieces off mdf if you're not careful. It took a little practice to figure out the best way to remove the plastic backing, but once you get the hang of it, it's not hard.

I got this tape to use with router templates. It is pretty thick and it sticks really well.....almost too well, as it is difficult to take the templates off the wood sometimes. I could have gotten by with something a bit less strong, but it worked well for my application.

This tape held the center base for my circle cutting jig extremely well. It also held a rough piece of plywood in place until the other project was finished. The only challenge is to get the backing off of the tape. Perhaps a perforated edge would help.

Amazing
This stuff is so strong the only thing you'll need to learn is not to over do it. Can be a real bear getting the work apart when you use to much.

Great for template routing
I almost didn't buy this due to some of the reviews but I'm really happy I did. I don't use it for turning but I have been using it for attaching templates for routing and it is fantastic. The comments about not being able to get the backing off are not really true. You just have to use a pin or exacto knife or someting to pick it off at the corner and it pops right off. It really isn't an issue it just takes practice. Fantastic tape does a great job and comes right off when you are done.

I resaw old lumber and place several pieces in tandem to plane to thickness. This tape held so well I thought I was going to have to saw the pieces from the slats I used to plane with. I have not used it for turning a project yet, but I'm sure it will work fine.

great tape
the tape sticks the parts together well. and then when it is time to separate the parts, it goes easily, and the tape doesn't leave much residue for cleanup

Versatile
Works well also as pattern tape for routing. Good hold, not bad to remove after.

Very good adhesive properties. My one criticism is that it is difficult to separate the protective layer from the adhesive layer.

does the job
The backing is hard to remove at times but the tape sticks well.
I have only used it for holding templates in place and holding parts together.

double face tape
worked well for me both in holding a jig for drilling leg holes in a slab table and for holding butterfly templates while cutting.

Super Sticky/Backing Hard to Remove? My Solution
I don't do wood turning, but needed Really Sticky Tape, for me this is it. As others have stated the backing is hard to remove, following is what I suggest. The first time use a sharp knife to pick at the back and separate. Then before you cut off the piece you need, make sure to leave an overhang of the backing of at least 1/2"-1". Next time you use it you'll find it much easier to remove the backing since you now have a start tab hanging. Pros: It is Super Sticky, which is what I need. Cons: You lose a bit of tape each time you use the solution.

Strong Tack.
The only tape I could find that holds wood down tight on my CNC machine. Agree the backing is hard to remove but I figured out a system. Attach tape to surface first. lightly score the top of the tape about a 1/2" length in the center of tape. Pick off with your fingernail. Comes off in 1 piece. If easier to remove backing I would have given it a 5.

I used this tape for both...
I used this tape for both turning and holding router templates to work pieces. In both cases it worked very well. Held fast and was easy to remove with little to no adhesive residue left on the work piece. It is a bit harder to remove the backing then some others but not difficult. I used a sharp knife to peel the corner of the tape up and the rest peeled off easily by hand. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.

I used this for turning some...
I used this for turning some small jewelry box tops and it worked great. This tape was much stronger than some of the thin hobby stuff I tried (which wouldn’t hold the pieces at high speed) and not unduly thick or spongy like some others. I’d have to agree that the backing is pretty hard to get off but I found that by slicing it with a utility knife, and then prying up an edge, I was able to get it off without too much trouble. Very little residue was left on the turning or the faceplate – but then I didn’t leave it on there too long either.

Sticks well - maybe too well
My wife was warned when she bought this for me that it was super sticky. Quite true, but it was all there was on the shelf two days before Christmas, and I had projects to finish. So sticky that it pulled pieces of the top ply off the oak veneer plywood I was template routing when I separated the pieces. That, in itself was a challenge as well. In addition, getting the vinyl covering off the back of the tape is a REAL challenge.
If you want something that holds and holds well, this is your product. I am glad to have it in my shop - just not for everyday use when I only want to hold a pattern or template on plywood.

Works well but time consuming
The tape does a good job of holding things down to my CNC, but it is an extremely daunting task to peel the backing off.

Holds well, hard to peel
The peeling process is hard to start because the backing strip is so thin it's difficult to grab. I now use a magnifying glass and Xacto knife to start the peeling process.

Patience required
This tape is not very easy to use. Peeling the paper off takes a lot of work, I get it done only using exto blade point and effort.
it also could be a little thicker and yet it holds well. I do use it a lot but will probably look for different brand next time.
