Nice Carving Vice

I bought this to use as a carving vice and it works well. The castings are very substantial and overall quality is quite good. The vice rotates over 180 degrees so the surface can be fixed in a horizontal or vertical position or anywhere in between. The top plate can be rotated 360 degrees. I mounted a piece of 3/4" plywood on the top plate for attaching relief carvings to it. The vice comes with a removable threaded hanger bolt that screws into the vice from above and functions as a carvers screw for carving in the round.

I mounted the swiveling base to a 1 X 6 hardwood scrap. I use a pair of clamps to fasten it to a table. It is very easy to use and change position. I highly recommend this to anyone making large wood carvings. It is well priced for a carving vise.
