I made this chest for a wedding gift. I thought some of the techniques were a little out dated, but, I changed some things, & it still turned out excellent! I used a brown cedar for the exterior & lid. I lined it with aromatic cedar fresh cut from Nebraska. The lining pieces were 6" wide x 1/4" & worked ok. I glued the pieces in and then nailed them with an air nailer. I changed the placement of the dust seal on the lid, & also added handles to each side made out of alder. The plans said to use boiled linseed oil for the finish, but I decided against that, & used Minwax fast drying clear coat. I put three coats on, & it looks great!!
