Low Profile 1/4'' Shelf Supports and Standards

This innovative shelving system recesses into the woodwork so it's almost invisible. Just cut a 1/4'' wide by 1/2'' deep mortise to install the 51'' long standards. Shelves adjust for 32mm or 1-1/4'' spacing. Standards made of durable brown plastic. Supports made from steel with a statuary bronze finish.

Note: Standards may need be trimmed to ensure proper alignment of shelves.

1) Submitted by Mark Hedin, from Bloomington, IN on 7/22/2008 Customer Rating: I have used these standards on several projects and they're dark, slim profile is very sharp looking in contrast to the any wood/finish. The fact that the bottoms have to be individually cut in order for the standards to line up is ridiculous and prone to cause errors. I wish there was a load rating associated with the standards as well, seeing as they are plastic and thin. I have not had them fail yet, but I wonder over time as the plastic becomes more brittle if they will.

Routed the grooves exactly to spec when I ordered the hardware, and installation was a nightmare. Nothing like having to beat on a brand new custom 7k closet for 4 hours with a 16 oz mallet. Trimming to get alignment was a pain. Never never again.

3) Submitted by N. Abrams, from Johnson City, NY on 3/7/2008 Customer Rating: Very flimsy, disappointed to find out they were not sold in pairs. Would not trust them to support weight of shelves. Returned these for refund. This however will not discourage me from shopping here. The majority of the items I've purchases have worked out very well.

4) Submitted by Frank Wilmont, from Buffalo, NY on 5/13/2009 Customer Rating: I chose this product as an alternative to drilling holes for shelf pins. I really liked the ease of installation, and not worrying about the holes filling up with stain and finish. I only gave this product a fair rating because the bottoms of the standards are far from standard. The ends of the plastic had to be trimmed to a consistent length to allow for set up.

5) Submitted by John Kreamer, from Middleburg, PA on 4/24/2008 Customer Rating: Had to use them because the cabinet I built was already routed for the shelf standards. The notches in the shelf standards did not line up with each other over the length of the part. I'll go back to drilling my shelf holes with the Rockler JIG IT shelf drilling jig which is an excellent tool that I've used since it was first introduced.
