My wife bought 13 of these for our vinyl posts and they are amazing. They match perfect(white). I ran them inside the posts so you can't see a single wire. Piece of cake to wire up.

The Classy Caps are a great product. I purchased the 6 light kit and installed them on vinyl posts. I ran the low voltage wire through the top rail of the railing then drilled holes through the posts. This conceals all wiring. Everything worked great the very first time. Read the directions. Leave the low voltage wire in a continous run through the posts. Do not cut the wire and have two ends at each post. This is due to the "cam" connector that makes the low voltage connection.
I used 4 screws, one on each side, to secure the Classy Caps to the posts.
My wife loves them and can't wait to install colored bulbs during hollidays and special occasions.
Rockler is a great company to do business with.

These cap lights are "classy" and look great, but if you've never run low voltage wiring and are short on patience, get someone else to do the installation.
These are made in Canada. I don't know if the problems I had were the result of a metric/English conversion or poor QC, but demensions/alignment seemed to be a common factor. Follow the directions and pay particular attention to the following points:
The kit comes with 14 ga. cable. Because of my layout, I needed 12 ga. and the supplied extension connector wouldn't fit. If you need additional connectors, get 12 ga. The light connectors on the bulb sockets will work on 12 ga. with a little adjustment of the contactor tangs. (They tended to pierce the side of the insulation instead of the conductor.) Check the tang positions of all connectors (cable and light) before hook up. It will save a lot of time and energy, not to mention help keep your blood pressure down!
Test for circuit power with a 4 watt bulb, not a meter! If you fry the fuse, you'll need a screw extractor, 4 new screws, a 5A slow blow fuse and a new fuse holder to get going again. (Trust me.)
Be very careful when you screw the cap to the post. Even though it seems tight when you slip it on, there is enough play that excessive pressure can split the cap seam. This a fairly easy fix with cyanoacrylic or plastic cement, but it adds to the "Frustraion Factor".
In summary, I may or may not have had the same problems with a different brand, but I certainly learned a lot on this installation. More importantly, my wife loves the gentle glow the lights cast on the deck. It's amazing how one "attaboy" from the right person can make you forget about a lot of
"Oh #@&*s!".
Editor's note: Manufacturer specifies using 14 gauge wire for runs up to 150 feet long and 12 gauge wire for runs up to 200 feet long.

These caps (4" white) added just the touch needed to our deck. There are times when you just want a little ambient light to fill in the dark corners; nothing much, just a touch of light. These lights fit the bill.
By converting 120v AC to 12v AC and installing these caps we added just a touch of light to the deck, allowing ourselves and friends to see the outlines of the deck but not be blinded by the brightness of the big lights. They are not intrusive or dominant, just a soft light at the edges of the deck.
Now we wish we had more posts to install them on. They are definitely worth the cost and the effort to install (very little effort, by the way.)
I uses 12 gauge wire, more never hurts, it takes the strain off the transformer. If this sounds odd, use an electrician, but this is definitely a homeowner type job.
