The product is great-however with more decks being made with the artificial wood, it would be nice if these lights were also made to fit a 4x4 actual post and then an insert provided to make it fit a 4x4 nominal post. That way one wouldn't have to get out his router and shave each post down (a real pain with this artificial decking material).

I used these on my composite post. The size was a problem, after researching internet I found that the manufacturer does offer a base to fit the composite sleeve. It took a little while to assemble the light with the base, but it turned out wonderful. Installation was easy - I'd recommend using the pigtail connector.
