Router Bit Set-Up JigsThese larger bits are designed to be used in a router table.

Router Bit Set-Up Jigs - Set your router bit to the precise height every time! Simply bring the router bit up through the table and align the jig with the cutting edge of the bit.

Router Safety Tips:
It's easy to prevent mishaps if you take a few simple precautions.

1) Rockler recommends using 1/2'' shank router bits whenever possible. 1/2'' shanks provide better stability with less vibration to produce a smoother cut and longer cutter life.
2) Make multiple light passes rather than one heavy cut.
3) Install your router bit so that 90% of the shank is inside the collet. Here's a rule of thumb: fully insert the bit, then pull it back 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
4) Use a router table whenever possible.
5) When using large diameter bits, reduce the RPM of your router. Then test your set-up on scrap lumber.
6) Always follow your router manufacturer's recommendations.

The router bit set produces a quality finished product. The sale price I bought the set for was hard to pass up.

I was amazed at the ease of the setup wth jig and arched template.

Normally, I find Rockler to be among the best quality around. I'm not an expert woodsmith, but I've got a fair amount of experience. For 2 years, I've had this bit-set, and always figured that the problems I had with the joint were "operator error", not the fault of the bit-set.... Until I used a set of my father's.
On the Rail and Stile bits, the bearing is placed in the wrong spot.. by having it on the end of the bit, it's not in a useful spot for normal wood thicknesses. You need to be using wood greater than 1" thick for the bearing guides to help you, otherwise, they miss the workpeice entirely, requiring you to rely on your fence. Even with the best alignment of the fence, I get sniping.
In contrast, my father's bit set has the bearing in the middle of the cutter, which is much more effective.

Editor's note:
For 3/4" stock the bearing on the stile/rail cutters is only used when following a template, such as when doing an arched top. The fence of the router table is used for straight cuts on 3/4" stock. Our Rail Coping Jig 28595 can be used to eliminate tearout.

I wasted alot of wood and time before figured out the set-up. Needed more info(didn`t have any) on the set up. It works very good, after I mastered the set-up. First time I ever used a set-up like this.

"I am disabled and my doctors advised me to get a hobby of some kind. After a lot of consideration and talks with my 13yr old son, we decided on woodworking. We turned an extra bedroom into a workshop and we now both just love it. I have done business with many companies on the internet and on the phone ( not just woodworking companies) and i have never found a company that gets an A+ on everything like Rockler does. Rockler has very kind people that treat you well over the phone and they stand behind their products 100% like no other company i have ever done business with. You can be sure that my son and myself will always be Rockler customers."
