2) Submitted by Paul, from Chandler, AZ on 7/20/2009 Customer Rating: My son and I wanted to make the middle portion of an old desk adjustable so that he could draw at a more comfortable angle. In about 2 hours, we used the lifts to easily add that functionality to the desk! We love the results.

I was afraid I would have to use screen door pistons. My only regret is not knowing about these when planning and building. I used the drafting table hardware on a 1/4 " 4 X 3 sheet of birch wood with some minor modifications and a little extra reinforcment it is very sturdy.

The depth of my table top was 2 1/2" (not the 2" suggested in the instructions)and I needed to adjust the mounting position to allow for the difference. If I were an expert, I would have realized this in the beginning. Otherwise, they work great. I built a double drafting/computer desk for my fiance and I to share.
