I too have been using my table saw without a splitter since I changed to using thin kerf blades. This not only greatly reduces the risk, but also prevents burn marks at a very low cost. It is an easy addition. I strongly recommend this device.

I had just tuned up my tablesaw and, then installed this splitter per the easy to follow instructions. It works as designed and I no longer burn maple when ripping long pieces. Well worth the low price.

This is an ingeneous little piece of safety equipment, and probably the best $[] upgrade you can do for a table saw. I'd been using my table saw without a splitter for years because the blade guard was so awkward, but this gives me some measure of safety against kickback without any interference. I've already recommended it to every friend with a table saw.

Although made from plastic, the installation jig allows for very percise fitting and is particularly effective in shop made zero tollerance throat plates. When used correctly, it is highly effective and has worked well for me.
One warning - be sure to match the splitter product to your blade kerf. There are three different sizes made. Check out the Microjig web site for details.

Recently I was injured by tablesaw kickback and a flying board. Terry at the Maplewood Rockler store suggested The MJ Splitter to reduce the risk of kickback.
This product is an elegant solution. While I bought it for safety reasons, I particularly like the burn free cuts it's giving me. It deserves a 5-star rating.

I have just begun using the splitter. I followed the installation guidelines accurately I believe. During rips on some rustic cherry boards the splitter bound in the kerf and pulled free from the zero clearance insert.
I have not given up yet, but am skeptical about the splitter
