I'm making a craftsman style book case divider and used the bit to put shelves in. Several years ago I purchased a jig from you not realizing a centering bit was needed! What a slick product the centering bit is!

I used this bit, along with a home made shelf pin jig, to build a couple of Shaker style bookcases. What a time saver. A really great tool.

I used this bit to make shelf pin holes using your shelf pin jig. I made kitchen cabinets for my son. I plan to make another 30 linear feet of cabinets for the same project. I used the cabinet screws made on the same order to mount the cabinets. Both are excellent.

Making some cabinets for a neighbor and had 240 shelf pin holes to drill. Your jig makes alignment simple with accurate indexing. The comments by others concerning chip clogging are correct, BUT I found that if you insert the bit into the jig, start the drill AND LET IT SPIN A FEW SECONDS BEFORE drilling the hole. Then let IT SPIN AGAIN AFTER completing the hole, the chip clearing problem was greatly reduced. Just can't be in a hurry!

Used this and the 1/4" Self Centering bit on my electronics cabinet with the jig and they worked very well except that after a few holes the bit had to be cleared of debris after every two or three holes. The design should be worked on so the bit clears the debris.

I bought the 5mm version to add a few more shelf positions to some new cabinets. First I made a jig from a strip of 1/8" tempered hardboard by drilling a pair of properly spaced 5mm "locator" holes followed by several 3/8" guide holes. Using shelf pins to register the jig into the existing holes I then drilled the new pin holes with the bit and guide. The bit cut clean holes at the surface but did tend to clog up with shavings after only a couple of holes as per another reviewer's experience. If I had to drill a bunch of holes I would find that frequent clearing of the bit to be a problem. The design should be revised for better chip ejection. Other than that, the self-centering bit worked well.

The self centering drill bit is very nice. It can be used directly with the hardware as well as the Jig-It. It makes for much better fitting screws/hardware with no screw heads leaving an edge or lip. This is a keeper!
