This is a good product with proper user training. If you just pull it down, it will either bend or break. This was used on a pump organ converted to a computer desk. The music holder was converted from a bottom pivot hinge to a bin hinge. An added wood strip cut on a 25 angle improved the opening.

I purchased these hinges for a project that I designed. They were much more affordable than the other piston assisted top hinges that I have seen.
I had to rout out the face frame in order to use a 3/4" face frame.
Though I had planned the storage area behind the door to the hinges specifications, best to measure the hinges when they arrive to ensure a proper fit.
As to the way that they function, I used them on 3/4" solid doors, though the doors weren't that big (see photo). I used two hinges per door.
Some hinges work better than others, though all do work.

Good product for the price. Wouldn't recommend for high to traffic cabinets. These are designed for 1/2 face frames, needed to shim out to fit 3/4 face frames and needs 1.5 headroom.

Maybe the manufacturer could make this for 3/4" face frame's. I don't know many cabinet maker's that use 1/2" stock for face frame's. Other than that I thought these where great hinge's for the price.
Editor's note: These hinges are made for 3/4" thickness. The 1/2" measurement is for the overlay.

I am very disapointed in these hinges. The doors do not close all the way when when shut. They also bend so easy, that the first time they went to use the cabinet door I got a call about the hinge being bent and the door stuck half way open. It's a cheap hinge, low price, but the time you spend adjusting them and replacing them will cost a bunch. []

These hinges seemed to be the answer for my over head cabinet. They worked nice for me but when my wife used it, they failed. She didn't pull down on the hinge like some have noted but did what was instructed, push up first then it will close. It wouldn't work. The locking mechanism stayed locked and wouldn't release. I have now purchasaed my third and last set and have to be very carefull when closing. I will figure out another way to hinge this cabinet in the future.

I was recently asked to replace a pair of these hinges for a client I have done a lot of work for. Due to the layout of the cabinet I thought the best approach was to use exact replacements. Before I could get the hinges installed and adjusted one of the pair broke. Fortunately, I had ordered extras. These are probably the worst hinges I have ever been exposed to.
