I find this knife to be quite comfortable in the hand, with a nice, hefty feel to it even though it is compact and well formed. Since this knife arrived, I have stopped using other, similar knives (scalpels & the like, used in model making & working with jewelry design & jewelry making). I am able to use every blade made for X-Acto tools and the blades fit perfectly within the knife's blade holder. This has allowed me to work more comfortably and, much more importantly, more carefully with the X-Acto blades as compared to some of the typically flimsy tools you tend to see with X-Acto blades.
Though the cost was a little more than I wanted to pay, I now feel it is justified since this knife will most likely be found in someone else's tool box 100 years from now!

I really like the feel and heft of this tool. Would like to see replacement blades in the catalog. We have a community woodshop here, all who have tried it asked where to buy it.

Nice handle. Poor blade quality. Blade is held loosely in cutting position so it wiggles side to side. Will NOT work with X-Acto blades so no refills. Tricky to get blade open.

I am one of the folks who don't have fingernails, so opening this knife requires tools. I am sad to learn, there are no blade refils. The 3 blades that come with this knife are not sharp enough to carve with, even basswood. The blades are too thin & flexable, for the style of handle. With a heavy handle the urge to try and do more with this knife is strong, but a serious cut or blade failure would be the result. If I hadn't thrown away the packaging, I would have sent it back.
"My new favourite store!
I just finshed my very first woodworking project (A workbench of course...couldn't do much without it!) and I can honestly say I did it mistake-free because of the advice from Charlie at the Rockler Store on S.Lyndale Ave. in Minneapolis.
He sold me what I needed, not what I thought I needed. (which would have been about twice as much!) He was very patient with all my questions, and gave me great advice on how to do things.
These folks are knowledgable and extremely helpful.
Charlie & Rockler - Thank You for all your help and all your future help!
- A new loyal customer." -
