Adjustable length clamp provides pressure from all four sides — ideal for big projects such as gluing table tops and shelving.
  • Applies pressure on workpiece face when edge-clamping to prevent bowing and buckling large panels.
  • Clamp attaches to any length 2 x 2’s (lumber and wood clamp pads not included).
  • One Clamp per Package
  • Includes one set of 2 parts. Two sets shown in photo.
  • See more Info to make wood pieces.

To make wood pieces, drill a series of 5/8'' holes spaced 2'' apart down the center line of the board face of a 2x4 piece of lumber. Then rip the board lengthwise through the centers of the holes, creating two pieces approx. 1-1/2'' x 1-11/16''. Rotate the notched boards so that notches are away from each other.

Bought the clamps to make an end grain patterned cutting that I saw in a back issue of Wood Magazine. It did an excellent job of not only the end to end pressure but keeping the board flat! I did make the holes larger in the 2X4 as one review suggested! It was a good idea!

I got a couple of pairs of these for gluing up panels for raised panel kitchen cabinet doors. As other reviews stated, they were a little awkward to set up, but once youfigure out a system they are not too bad. I made a couple of small blocks slightly thicker than the material I was clamping and inserted them in front of the clamp pads. After applying glue, I simply slid the assembled panel into the clamp and removed the blocks and I was good to go! I do augment the clamping strength with a pipe clamp when needed. I will try slightly larger holes in my 2X4 next time I make the rails as I agree the 5/8ths hole may be a little small for maximum clamping power. Overall, a usefull tool and good product!

This clamp takes a little practice, but it is a good one. You have to hold the two wood blocks on either side of the panel as you slip an end unit on. Then, while still holding everything in place, you slip the screw portion on the other end. If the screw isn't set close to depth you want it, you have to screw it in or out so that it meets the edge of the board. My advice is to dry fit everything and get the screw adjusted close to what you'll need, remove the parts, glue up the edges, and then reassemble the clamp parts and tighten. Despite all this, it does give excellent results and a nice flat panel. I rated it as a 4 star item, having discounted it only because of the awkwardness of the procedure. But as far as a quality outcome, this is a good gizmo to have.

I now have eight pairs of these clamps. Easy to build the clamp pads. I took one 2x4, drilled some holes down the center and cut it in half length wise and had the rails for the clamps. I now have a sets of 2' long rails and sets of 4' long rails for different size panels. I place one set of clamps appx every foot of panel and clamp things up. It takes a bit of effort to insure the panel pieces line up flush with each other as the bigger the panel the less pressure is placed in the center, but these clamps do work great to keep the panel pieces tight and flush.

I think my expectations exceeded reality a bit with these
clamps. I will be buying some pipe clamps for a stronger
squeeze. I will probably still use a couple of these clamps in wider panels for stability. They were hard to set up quickly. Which proved to be a real pain, with glue setting up and all.

I have two of these that came with some plastic pieces that you screw to a 2X2. The paint on the threads makes them difficult to use, so I removed it with a wire wheel.
I also have 5 of the newer type and they work quite well. I think the 5/8" isn't quite deep enough, unless, perhaps, you use a very thin kerf saw to divide the two pieces. Sometimes the clamp slips out when under lots of pressure. I'm going to try 3/4" holes.
My first project was a series of bookshelves in American Cherry. All of the verticals and shelves are made of strips of 4/4 X 3-4" solid lumber. I use the Festool domino joiner system after cleaning up the glue edge on my jointer. The domino system helps keep the surface well aligned, and in conjunction with these clamps, makes for a neat and strong joint. After sufficient drying time, I scraped the surplus glue off and passed the planks through a drum sander (poor man's timesaver). The result is very good.
I'll definitely get more of these clamps so that I can glue up several planks at a time.

Not as good as I expected but as a novice it takes trial and error to master.
