Unlike metal wedges that don't give at all & therefore mar or even ruin your wood, the hard plastic of these wedges still gives just enough to keep from messing up your wood in any way. Add that plastic tends to have a bit of a slippery effect to it and you see why I think these are the best wedges I have come across yet! While breaking down an old dresser this weekend, I was unable to get in between two pieces of wood with a metal wedge, so I decided to try these plastic ones. That extra bit of 'slipperiness' helped them slide in, allowing me to separate the wood much more easily than anticipated! I think I'll be buying another set to compliment this set in the very near future!
