This is a decent kit, however the bushing is very difficult to remove. I have to pry it off with a screw driver every time and ding the brass in the process. It leaves a little too much of a gap between the inlay and the cut. If you don't mind seeing a glue line then it's alright.

The unit does well. I made a Dutchman to get accustomed to moving my 2HP router smoothly. I watched a "pod cast" on the Woodsmith site. It was very helpful, although the pod cast didn't mention that the template needs to be 1/4" thick to clear the bushing. The toughest part of the process was making a good looking template out of wood! Plexi is next. I'd recommend this kit to anyone.

Sale came just as I was trying to repair a table that got chopped with an ax (4 or 5 good nicks). Bushing worked great, was able to make a box to completely cover.

I have been able to do Dutchman patches in a number of items. The redwood siding on my 1898 house. At a friends 1947 house, I have just completed doing patches on striated plywood, the stuff that went out of production in the 1970's. There were two cutouts for outlets in weird places. I was able to make patches from some scrap, left over from the remodel, to save the almost full sheets rather than rip them down and just go with a smooth wall.
This router bit and coller set is fantastic. I look forward to trying some decorative inlay work on my next project. I would recommend this product to anyone who works with wood.

The inlay jig itself "seems" okay, but I really would not know due to the fact that the bit snapped before I could get even half of the first small dutchman patch completed. I have other bits of similar size that are of far higher quality.

I bought this kit for my first try at inlaying, and I got what I thought were pretty good results. I used veneers for the inlay material, and the toughest part of the job was setting the correct depth for the router bit--took some trial and error. Also, Rockler doesn't tell you how much extra to allow for the bushing when you're making your jig--more trial and error. (3/16 inch worked for me.)
Editor's note. Template is not made to a different size as the removable brass bushing is removed when going betwwen cutting the inlay to making the recess. See link to instructions in left hand side bar of this offering.

Ordered 6 of these bits to eliminate down time in the shop, instead we will be spending that time finding higher quality bits, 4 of 6 snapped quickly.
