- Extra-Thin Flush Mount Brackets, 1'' x 1''
Overview
These interlocking hanger brackets are great for securing vanity cases, wall units, and mirrors to the wall. One piece fits into the other to form a solid, streamlined interlocking mount, much like a French cleat. Since it measures only 1/8'' thick, there is very little visible gap against the wall. When you need to remove the wall hanging for cleaning, painting or any other reason, simply lift it off the brackets.
What's included
(2) Sets of Extra-Thin Flush Mount Brackets
(2) Packs of mounting screws
(2) Packs of mounting screws

- For wide wall hangings, multiple mounts are recommended
- Zinc-plated steel
- Manufacturer Part Number: H03-015-0003

how much weight will this hold?
A shopper
on Apr 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The amount of weight these clips will hold is going to be determined by the structure into which you are securing the screws. I personally have not tested the limits but we have in the past hung full 4 x 8 panels with laminate faces with four clips. These were approx 100 lbs. The screws into the studs are not a problem, the question is how secure are the screws you connect to your item to be attached. If you are securing with properly piloted screws into a nice hardwood you could very likely suspend three times the weight over something like particleboard. It would be helpful to know the installation application that you are attempting including materials and projected load on the clips. Thank you, Brad

The basic answer is " It depends" It depends on what both pieces are being fastened to, in drywall the spacing is quite close and there is a risk of blowout if not very careful. In the piece being hung typicallyit would be screwed using at least a #6 or #8 wood screw which have a good shear strength. I would do a test piece and see what success you have. There is little chance of failure to the hangers themselves with weights up to 20-25 lbs because of the design. But as soon as there is outward pull it will depend on the material you are anchoring to. Good luck

In order for the bracket to work the screws need to be flush with the surface, which means that you need to use pretty small wood screws. The bracket itself could easily hold 26 lbs. I'm not sure you could find screws that would hold the weight without pulling out.

I use these for floating shelves that go up to 15lbs each. For 26lb speakers I would use 2 brackets per speaker and be sure to use good anchors in the wall and they'll hold up real nice.

Excellent for odd hangings
I used this product to hang a wooden Guatemalan ceremonial mask on the wall. There was only about a 1" x 2" area on the back bottom of the mask that was flat enough to put a hanger, so the hanger had to be small but strong enough to hold the mask. This was the perfect solution.

Headboard mounting
We used one set at each corner of a padded headboard to attach it to the wall at the head of a king size bed using 1'x4 flat head screws & plastic wall anchors. Very firm, solid. The brackets were smaller than we expected but did a fine job. Very sturdy.

This is an ingenious product that works like a charm to hang heavy objects very close to the wall. Very careful alignment is needed for two pairs or more to work properly, so take your time and mark carefully, and you will be rewarded with a sturdy hanging of great quality.I have a heavy curio cabinet hanging flawlessly for over 20 years on a wall that experiences vibration from a slamming door all the time. The best flush mounts ever!

The mounts work beautifully. It was a bit intimidating at first, because no suggestions and no screws come with the mounts, but in the end it was quite simple. I bought #4 (for the 1/4" headboard plywood) and #6 (for the wall)flat head screws. In order to match the two components, we mounted the "up" pieces on the wall, then placed the "down" pieces into the slot and "locked" them. Then I attached self-stick Velco to the side sections of the mounts. We then placed the board against the wall, pushed it against the Velcro and lifted it up so the mounts separated. It worked like a charm. The mounts are very secure and quite tight against the wall. Great stuff!

Worked well hanging a headboard. A little tricky to mount. After first leveling, tracing and measuring the headboard I screwed in the bottom bracket to the wall and used double sided tape on the top bracket to attach to the headboard. Slid on easily afterwards. Use #6 tapered head screws for the larger mounts and #4 screws for the smaller flush mounts. Would have appreciated there be screws and instructions in the package.

I just used these to install my bed headboard to the wall. They worked perfectly and stayed in place. It's a little tricky to install. The best way I found to install these were to attach the brackets to the headboard first. I then took a flat head screwdriver and pried the latch out to make it easier to slip into the other bracket. I then held it in place and marked the wall. Once I installed the brackets on the wall, I slipped the headboard into place and pulled the headboard down and it snapped into place. It's amazing how much weight these little brackets can hold.

After reading viewers comments, I decided to order these mounts. Since wall studs in older construction is not reliable, I decided on mounting the brackets first on the wall. Used my four foot level to mark bracket locations as well as to level. Transfered the marks to headboard. Then I used blue tape on the wall and headboard to indicate the outside measurement of the wall mounts. Worked like a charm. Took less than a minute to line up the two brackets.

We used your product to hang...
We used your product to hang a (very heavy) bed headboard. Two z-clips is all we used and they are holding OK. We could not use more because they have little tolerance and using 4 would have been very difficult. However, we were lucky we hung the headboard in the first try! Part of the problem was that the headboard weights 60lbs.I was impressed by Rockler, I saw the z-clip in a magazine 10 years ago and wanted to use it for this application, but I could not find it until the Internet and your website made it possible. Good job!

I wanted to hang a very heavy tri-fold mirror to a wall and took a chance on these thin flush mounts. For an easy and accurate installation, I installed the mounts on the back of the mirror first, then traced those mounts onto a piece of posterboard and used the posterboard to position the wall mounts. They hold an impressive amount of weight with confidence, but there are no fasteners (or information on the proper size fastener to use) included with the set. So, not a complete solution and the buyer still has some leg-work to do.

Neat idea, needs better execution.
I'm using two pairs of these to hold two speakers on a portable 2.1 Bluetooth audio system. The idea is, speakers attach to the subwoofer for travel but can easily be detached and separated when setting up the system.
These brackets have plenty of holding capacity and with some grinding of the mounting screw heads, operate easily and securely when attaching and detaching the speakers. The trick is grinding the heads of the mounting screws down so the brackets can slide over each other.
You must be careful to predrill the mounting screw holes so they are perfectly centered on the holes in the brackets, and are perpendicular to the bracket. This will allow the beveled head screws to seat into the bracket as deeply as possible. It probably still won't be enough and out comes the Dremel or similar grinding tool to take the head down even further, so the brackets can move past each other.
These are a good idea, but need improvement in the method of attaching the brackets. Maybe slightly thicker metal with a "stepped" or shouldered mounting hole and a flat head screw that would fit into the stepped mounting hole, flush with the bracket.
Better than any alternative for my project, just took more work than I anticipated.

Proud Screwheads
Great idea, but a couple of drawbacks. First, the screws are #4 x 3/4", meaning poor holding ability in softwood such as cedar (which was used in my project). The workaround for this was to pre-drill pilot holes and push a bit of Titebond Ultra into the holes before putting in the screws. Seems to work OK. The second is that although the holes in the brackets are countersunk a bit, the screw heads still stand a bit proud - enough that they would either have to be filed flush or the edge cleats pried up enough to allow clearance. I chose the latter, and it makes for a snug but acceptable fit. I've also used the larger brackets and they work fine without modifications..

My mistake.... The 1" brackets are good but I needed to get the 1 1/2" or the next size up. Also I only needed two brackets, so I ordered 2 plus 2 extra, not knowing they came in pairs.

Too small and a little flimsy
Got these for mounting some square wood blocks on the wall. They're a little too small and bend pretty easily to mount anything more than 5 lbs in my experience. However if Rockler made a 2.5" size or something I'd buy several, as there just aren't any other good flush mounting solutions out there

#4 screws are for very light duty. A possible #4 screw source is McFeely's.

The product functioned as expected. Although the small mounts were "drilled for # 4 flat-head screws," the screw heads didn't fit flush with the surface of the pieces. This caused interference when interlocking the pieces. Filing the screw heads down about 1/32" fixed the problem. When the screw heads were flush, the pieces the hangers interlocked smoothly.

I would have liked instructions on how to use these mounts. I also used them for a headboard to a wall and had a tough job with the double sided tape. I also think that screws should have been included. All in all, a good product.

Good brackets but needs low profile screws
The brackets themselves are great but the heads of the screws stick out so much that it prevents them from sliding. I ground down the head of one pair which seemed to work but the phillips socket is pretty much gone now so they are permanent. The second pair I ended up going to Lowes and bought different screws for.

This is the most frustrating piece...
This is the most frustrating piece of hardware I have ever come across. There are no instructions as to what kind of screws to use and if you don't use exactly the right ones, the flush mounts will not slide past each other. I still haven't found the right ones but I assume they are out there somewhere. This product should definitely come with screws, it would save users a ton of frustration.

Did NOT Work for me
Terrible experience with this item, the screws they give you are extremely small and will not hold into anything. Item is very flimsy and not well made. Holes are too small to fit any type of longer screw that will sit flush with the mounts. I ended up getting Z clips that worked wonderfully.

impossible to screw on
I wanted to hang this onto a wall--the tiny screws included worked fine for the plaque I was hanging, but are MUCH too short to go through drywall into a stud. They should include 2 sizes of screws. I could not find longer screws anywhere that would allow the two pieces to slide together.

Impossible
These overlap where the screws go in. Even if the screw is in as tight as humanly possible, there is still no way for these to slide along each other and fit. The screws stick out and block these from interlocking. Terrible product, and way too expensive for what you get.

Not recommended.
The screws provided with the brackets will not allow the brackets to be slid together. The hole is not countersunk deep enough and the screws heads sit too tall. Very disappointed that a wood working site would sell something that doesn't even work. I'm going to head to my local hardware and see if they have some screws that might work. Very frustrating. Also, the brackets I received in the package are not the ones pictured. They don't have the company name stamped on them. Perhaps a cheap knockoff? Package is stamped "Made in Taiwan" on the bag......so much for American made quality.

Clips &screws don't work
The screws provided were too large for the countersink in the clips. The tolerance of the clips sliding together was extremely tight. Didn't have replacement screws on hand so I ended up just throwing them away.
I would recommend using another product.

Not for big items, great for teeny tiny stuff
READ the dimensions again. 1" by 1". This hanger is the size of a postage stamp ! and the screws are not long enough to screw through drywall into a wood stud. The screws are
MUCH smaller than a common drywall screw. They need to
make this unit double the size and it would be fantastic to be able
to use larger screws that would read a drywall stud.
See, you can use a larger screw but then the two units will not mate together properly because the heads of the screws will interfere with each other.

The screws provided with these mounting brackets do will not seat flush to the bracket, thereby creating an interference that disallows the units from mating. ..very poor design/workmanship.

I was very disappointed once I...
I was very disappointed once I realized the only screws that allowed the 1 version of this product to slip past the heads are #4. I can find #4's for the wood side, but can't find anything that works to mount the other bracket to the wall securely. Not enough clearance for a standard wall anchor.

I have some concerns about hanging...
I have some concerns about hanging a 60+ pound mirror using #4 screws. I do agree that the clips will allow a #4 screw to pass any shear test when screwed to the back of a mirror or cabinet. I will not trust a #4 screw ~1"+ from pulling out of the wall. (1/2" drywall plus 1/2"+ into a stud. I suggest that a person that is going to buy these determine if four #4 screws will hold your project with a safety factor of at least two. I will only use the clips when I have the screws go directly into solid wood and not through drywall into a stud.
