Drill Press Table - Mounting Instructions

Instructions for Mounting Your Drill Press Table

Because of the variety of drill press table hole configurations, a pre-drilled pattern does not work on all tables. Use one of the two methods below to secure our drill press table to the steel table on your drill press.

Method 1:

1) Position the drill press table on your drill press, butting the back edge against the drill press post. Adjust the table side-to-side so the chuck is centered over the replaceable birch plywood insert.

2) Check to be sure that the height adjustment handle on the drill press clears the backside of the drill press table. If not, adjust the position until it clears the table.

3) From underneath the table, mark the location of the mounting holes in the steel table. Only two mounting holes are required. If your table has slots instead of holes, mark a position along the slots that clear the birch plywood insert.

4) Remove the drill press table, and drill two 1/2" diameter x 5/8" deep holes for the threaded inserts on the underside of our table as marked. Install the threaded inserts, then thread the 11/2" bolts into the threaded inserts. Re-position the table on the drill press, and secure it in place with the washers and nuts provided.

Method 2:

Use this method only if the holes will interfere with the replaceable birch plywood insert, or there are no holes or slots in your steel drill press table.

1) Cut a piece of wood (1x2 or 2x4), 4" longer than your table is wide, to act as a cleat. The steel table will be sandwiched between the cleat and our table.

2) Drill 5/16" diameter through-holes in the cleat, 1" from each end.

3) Position the drill press table on your drill press, butting the back edge against the drill press post. Adjust the table side-to-side so the chuck is centered over the replaceable birch plywood insert.

4) Check to be sure that the height adjustment handle on the drill press clears the backside of the drill press table. If not, adjust the position until it clears the table.

5) Hold the cleat against the bottom side of the steel table, as far back as possible.

6) Measure the distance from the back edge of the cleat to the back edge of our drill press table.

7) Remove the drill press table and turn it upside down. Lay the cleat on the drill press table so it is positioned the same distance from the back edge as measured.

8) Use the cleat as a template and mark the location of holes on the drill press table.

9) Drill two 1/2" diameter x 5/8" deep holes for the threaded inserts on the underside of the drill press table as marked. Install the threaded inserts.

10)Re-position the table on the drill press, and secure it in place using standard hex bolts and washers, sandwiching the steel table between the cleat and the drill press table.
