Measuring your doors and drawers for cabinet refacing
Door and drawer fronts will be custom-made to the sizes you specify so accurate measurements are critical. You will need to measure all door openings to the nearest 1/8’’ and then add in adjustments based on the type of hinge and overlay required. Do not order rough opening sizes.
Pick your hardware first: This will determine what size overlay is needed.
Measuring opening size: (Do not order by these opening size dimensions.)
Measure all door openings to the nearest 1/16". Always write width first.
Figuring order sizes:
For 1/2" overlay add 1" to the width and 1" to the height of each opening size. If your application requires a different overlay, adjust the measurements accordingly. For inset applications, subtract no less than 1/4" on both width and height of cabinet opening measurements. Doors and drawer fronts will be custom-made to the sizes you specify, so measure carefully.
Order two doors to cover any opening more than 22" wide. Doors over 26" in
width and/or 46" in height will have double panels.
We guarantee no warping or cracking on doors sized up to 23" wide and/or 46"
high; drawer fronts up to 30" wide and/or 12" high.
Doors exceeding the maximum sizes listed may be possible but require a special quote.
"Every time I have been in a Rockler store around the country I have left feeling that I received wonderful service and most always had exactly what I needed in stock at a fair to great price. the only complaint, if it can be called that, is that I have to drive over 45 minutes to reach the nearest Rockler store. My wife probably appreciates that distance, as I am certain that if one was as close as I wished it to be, we would have very little left in our checkbook!" -
