This was my first project since high school (25 years ago) and I made this for my first grandchild (girl) who is due in about 3 weeks.
Used walnut and ash and I didn't have a lathe so I made 3/4X1 spindles and rounded edges. Used walnut dowel and drawer pulls on the ends for the pins. Also, had legs extend to floor. Used boiled linseed oil and then several coats of shellac for the finish.

Great plans! Were easy to follow. My daughter and husband were very surprised. Especially surprised was son-in-law, as I sent them the disassembled crib in a big flat screen HDTV box.
I think it turned out great. Will be retiring next year, so will have more time to do my woodworking project.
Thanks for the great plans!

The plans were great. I'm 22 years old and go to school and work full time. My father and I worked on this project together for my first child. The plans were easy to follow, although we changed the height a few inches. This project meant a lot to me and I would recommend the plans to other people.

The woodworking portion of the plans was excellent. They were easy to follow and had a ton of measurements. I don’t have a lathe so I used dowels for the spindles and kept the posts square. The instructions for making the cradle rock were impossible to figure out. At least one instruction “is clearly in error.” I struggled for days with how to make it rock well and ended up with dowels glued to the cradle portion sticking out and fitting into roller bearings from the hardware store mounted in the posts. This works well and is simple, but it took me days to figure it out. Now that it’s done my wife and I are very happy with it; our first child should arrive in about six weeks!

The plans were easy to follow. I did not have the equipment to make spindles or do turning so I got creative with my router for the spindles and laminated walnut and ash for the posts. My daughter and son-in-law loved it.

This cradle was built by Jared Parson with a little assistance from me. Jared and his wife are expecting their first child and she is due next week.
It was quite a challenge for Jared to get time to come to my shop and work on the project and keep it a surprise for his wife.
The plans were very accurate and the project was a lot of fun to build.
