GripVac D-Handle BaseFor single hand gripping operation, the GripVac handle features a soft over-mold surface that molds to the operators hand for maximum comfort and control. This grip method is often preferred when using the router on dovetail machines with repetitive front-to-back movements.

For maximum dust control and additional hand gripping versatililty, the standard base handle is replaceable with the GripVac handle (#26820 not included). The GripVac attachment mounts over the dust access hole.

The GripVac attachment (not included) minimizes vacumn hose interference by efficiently exhausting the dust through the top of the handle. Must be used with the clear dust insert included with the base. Dust insert mounts inside the base by removing the sub-base and attraching between the base casting and plastic sub-base.

I just bought another 892 router to use with the plunge holder that came with that came with the 893 set I purchased 3 years ago. The first one is in my router table attached to the table saw. They both work fine. I am using the plunge version with a Mortise Pal loose tennon jig that is a great help where bisquets are too big.

Great product! The soft start and variable speed are nice upgrades to the older P/C and the additional Hp is nice too. This is a powerful tool that does develop heat! if you enclose it in a table and don't provide adequate ventilation for it to keep cool, it will burn up.
The new dust extraction system for the fixed base is impressive. It carries away most of the dust and stops debris from being thrown up and out at you. Keep up the great work Porter Cable.
Advice to others who had problems: 1) Read the owners manual. 2) Keep the machine cool if enclosed in a table. 3) Don't buy cheap bits that break and fall into the housing.

I purchase the Porter Cable 892 Router package with the Rockler table top and the Lift FX. I have just made new raised panel doors and drawer fronts for our kitchen. The whole set up was a real neat package.

Done very well For a short time but caught fire and spit the brushes out of it . The motor is just made to go into a router table and be ran/use for any long period time

I have the 893pk it is also a lemon after 1 1/2 years of light use I have a piece of junk, that is not worth repairing. The armature is burned out, and speed control is also burned out. The cost of rebuilding is more than a router cost. I made a mistake buying another porter cable product. This my second second bad experience with porter cable and my last.

I have been very dissappointed with the Porter Cable 892 Router I bought a year ago. It is now dead sitting on my tool shelf. It is not a good router for a router table, as it is advertised, and proved to be a poor investment. First, a 1/4" router bit broke off, and fell in the router motor, shredding the cooling fan, requiring a certified repair place to fix it then. Then the height adjusmtment gear track came loose, as the small bolt that held it in place stripped its threads in the aluminum body of the router, making the adjustment difficult, and impossible from the above-the-table adjustment handle. Then the main bearing went out, causing smoke to bellow out of the router with horrible screeching sounds. Then, it just quit and some small metal parts fell out of it on the floor. Now it is dead. I have never worked this router hard, as it just couldn't take it, so I am sure that it was not my poor use, or overwork that caused the problems with this product. I think it was either a Lemon, or just a poorly designed product. I just bought an Hitachi to replace it, I hope it is better. I have never questioned P/C products before, but after this experience, I'm trying another brand name, I just hope that Hitachi is not also owned by the same conglomerate that owns P/C tools now.
