It’s the details that make this Classic Bed so appealing. The tapered leg
bottoms. The matching arches in the headboard and footboard. The
stopped chamfers on the corners of the legs. Combine this with solid wood
construction, and you have a bed that will be in your family for
generations.
The Classic Bed consists of a headboard, a footboard, two side rails, a
stretcher, and four matress slats. The rails are connected to the headboard
and footboard with knock-down bed rail fasteners which can be easily
disassembled for moving or storage.
The Classic Bed shown in the photo is made of solid cherry. It’s 71" wide
by 88-1/2" deep by 45" high (queen-, twin- and full-size variations are
included). It’s finished with cherry stain and a coat of tung oil/urethane
combination finish.
Material list includes all the wood, supplies, and tools you'll need to build
this Classic Bed.

I made this bed for my daughter. She loved it. These plans were easy to follow and explained everything. I used cherry and finished it with tung oil.

Excellent plans as stated in prior posts. Suggestions:
1. When gluing stiles dado extra pieces of the dadoed inserts and lock them on both sides of all the stiles top and bottom and it will go much easier. If you try this bed you will see what I mean when doing glue up.
2. I found the bed rail connectors to be the wrong type for this bed. I would suggest the 6 inch type that you mortise in the bed posts in order to avoid spaces and offset. I found it best to center them.

These plans were so easy to follow that I've decided to pattern the rest of my bedroom furniture after it. I built this bed out of poplar and loved the way it turned out. It took me three weeks to build.

I built this bed out of Missouri native cherry and turned out beautiful! The plans were easy to follow, even for a beginner. You can't buy this kind of quality in any store. I wish all plans were this easy to follow but be prepared to be patient. This is not a weekend project, but is well worth the effort.

I loved building this bed. Plans were easy to follow. I made a few of my own design changes only because I wanted to make it unique. This will definitely be in the family for a long time. I even burned my name in it with the Rockler branding iron. This bed was built with red oak.
