This is the best of the "shed" books in terms of clarity of writing, appropriate pictures to demonstrate important points, ample cautionary statements (what you don't know can hurt you), a variety of examples demonstrating different construction techniques, and most importantly a practical mindset. Unlike most of the "shed" books, this book emphasizes why things are done as much as how they are done. This allows it to be much more than a cookbook with a few simple recipies. While there are other books that will round out your education or provide interesting alternatives for design, this book is one that deserves to be read first.
